The last summer war against the Hizbullah was carried out mostly by the Golany infantry battalion and the tankists. Both suffered heavy casualties, the infantry because of lack of combat training (they had spent the last decade in police work) and the tankists because there we had no answer against the Russian hand held anti-tank rockets. Under the new Commander in Chief my neighbor in Kever Benjamin, the Golani held ferocious summer excercises and is again in fighting condition. They are Israel's toughest infantry force, and surprisingly multi-ethnic.

Golani Batallion trains for the Next War
