Yesterday we visited friends in the Tabor Village in view of the Tabor Mountain in Lower Galilee (the pic was taken from their house). There is a large Beduin village - Shibli - on one side of the mountain, and a Cherkess one on the other side (The Cherkess are Muslim Caucasus tribes - like the Chechens - settled in deserted Syria and Palestine under the Turkish Empire, as a loyal and reliable population). They welcomed us with some Cherkess pitta bread with zaatar (oregano) and local oil olive, not really to my taste. Our friend, a child doctor, said astma was widespread among them. On top of the mountain there is an old monastery.
