American Jews keep moving to Israel. This people must have gone crazy, to leave the American paradise for this dry hellhole. They seem quite happy in their foolishness. Welcome!

In 1936, my wife's cousin and his parents left Santa Rosa, California where he was born and moved to the Stalinist paradise. This was seen as a propaganda victory and all of his father's Communist comrades turned out at the dock to see them off.
I know that it is validating to you to see Yid'n moving to Israel from America, but yes, those people are crazy, or at least religious fanatics. The young women with the shmattes on their heads and long sleeves in the summer heat are HIGHLY atypical of what an American Jew looks like -you are showing the fringe of a fringe and drawing general conclusions from them. If there is anything that Americans (including American Jews) have learned in the last 7 years since 9/11 it is that the Middle East is a very dangerous neighborhood and the last thing the average American Jew wants to do is move to a more dangerous neighborhood. Only young people driven by the highest levels of idealism are willing to put a cause ahead of their own safety. Most young people today are more cynical than idealistic - there are no more infallible giants like Stalin, only small men who lie and cheat and steal and have illicit sexual relations with their subordinates.
About 3,000 immigrants are expected from N. America this year, or about .05% of the US Jewish population. It will only take 2,000 years for all the Jews of the US to move to Israel at this rate.
Now I wish these new olim well and I wish you well too, but please understand that they are statistical outliers and not part of some massive new trend. Maybe there will come a day when the Jews of the US pull up stakes en mass and all make aliyah, but not yet. I just heard someone say that people don't make changes in their life when they see the light, they make changes when they feel the heat, and for now there is no heat.
You are extracting the wrong conclusions from the beautiful pictures above. No one is saying that the 7 million strong American Jewry is sitting on its back packs waiting to board the plane to Israel. What the pictures and the other a month ago, two months ago, seven years ago, etc. are saying is: Wow! The United States is building a border fence to keep out the world pouring in, legally or illegally, to the nearest thing we know of an earthly paradise. Just to renew my visa to the Unites States cost me hundreds of dollars and 2 months waiting and an interrogation. Every time I land in the USA, several of the passaners are discovered to have no documents and are trying to filter in. Consider that in this situation you have a continuous, ceaseless trickle of elite American Jews LEAVING the USA and coming to this rainless hellhole. It is like a tiny stream flowing unnaturally upriver within the Mississippi. It does not validate my Zionism, it validates my faith in the special nature of the Jewish people, always young and always evolving.
