Orcadians (XVI) in La Peninsula Iberica

As about 10% of the population of Madrid is non-Spanish, and about 50% of the babies born are of non-Spanish mothers, the garden variety Spanish is starting to have, once more, identity complexes. The latest craze is to find out Visigoth family origins, that is, some indication that one is not a Jew, a South American immigrant or a Moroccan Muslim, but pure racial German. For example, it is widely believed that the family name Guzmán comes from the German Guttman, which could well be Jewish, but it was decided that it is Germanic. The pic shows Saint Hermenegild, one Visigoth king and Catholic saint, whose name means, how else, ermen gild - a lot of money. A Spanish-Goth commenter writes:

If the reader wonders how could people in the 16th Century establish Goth genealogy, when the Goths disappeared by complete mixing around the 6th Century, well, that is nothing, people is establishing TODAY Gothic genealogies, a thousand four hundred years after the last Goth-speaking Goth with four Goth grandparents in Spain died. But I am sure Dienekes will soon invent a computer program able to calculate to the third decimal point the percentage of Gothic, Jewish, Basque, etc. blood running in a Spaniard's veins. It is not important, but Visigoths came from the Crimean peninsula in Ucraine and never passed through Germany. They hated and fought the Franks, that is, Germans.

It seems that most of the European countries are realigning around Germany.
