I suspect this Gaza project is a much bigger operation than is portrayed in the media.
This is the last chance for Israel to act before the Obama administration takes over. It needs to be finished before inauguration.
If not, and if Obama then fails to restrain Israel, a lot of people around the world are going to feel very, very conned. And this wil be a big problem in the Democratic Party, since Obama's credibility in the world will then be damaged, probably beyond repair, and all the careful work could be destroyed. He will be derided as a puppet of those he has surrounded himself with.
We are watching the outcome with interest.
