MANAMA, Bahrain, Jan. 8, 2009 -- The Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) has established Combined Task Force 151 (CTF-151) specifically for counter-piracy operations. Naval ships and assets from more than 20 nations comprise the Combined Maritime Forces. U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Terence "Terry" McKnight has been named the commander of the new task force which will be fully operational by the middle of January.
The CMF created the Maritime Security Patrol Area (MSPA) in the Gulf of Aden in August of 2008 to support international efforts to combat piracy. Coalition efforts included CTF-150 assets patrolling the area with ships and aircraft. However, the charter for CTF-150, established at the outset of Operation Enduring Freedom, was for the conduct of Maritime Security Operations (MSO) in the Gulf of Aden, the Gulf of Oman, the Arabian Sea, Red Sea and the Indian Ocean.

The World Needs America
Americans are completely unaware the vital role their country is playing in the world. The presence of American forces in Europe has brought sixty years of peace and prosperity. The same in Japan and South Korea. We are lucky that now the Americans are trying to establish law and order in our part of the world. We need it very much. The media hates politicians and policemen, saying they are fascist and dumb, but people needs them. We cannot live in peace without them. Now America has taken the iniciative and organized an anti-pirate maritime international task force. I see it as an important political achievement and hope that it will succeed. Salut!
I to hope, but "white knight" Mr.Obama will ride and deal whit bad boy's!
Yes "peace" but ethnic nations are dying out......:)
when Ronald Reagan was president the US Navy was expanded to about 600 ships, but during the mid 90's defense drawdown the fleet was halved to about 300. I think one of the reasons the US does not have the funds for a 600 ship navy is that US political leaders do not realize that we are primarily a naval power. The war in Iraq is in many ways an aberation, normally our power comes from either control fo the sea or the CIA. In many ways we are the heirs of Britain. Since we do not have the extra ships we ask for the help of other countries.
