According to Bereshith (In the Beginning) the sun started to shine on the fourth day of the Creation. According to the Jewish calendar, the sun finds itself exactly in the same position as in the beginning once every 28 years. This is an occasion to recite the Birkat haHamah - the Blessing of the Sun. Next Wednesday morning Jews all over the world will stop, look above and carry out the ritual. Some modern rabbis give a New Age green interpretation, saying that it connects us with the origins of the universe and so on.
