The Sinai Peninsula Beduins maintain an active trade route across Israel's Southern border. What is profitable to bring to Israel without paying taxes? Apparently there are three categories of mechandise: Weapons for the Arab population (for self-defense against other Arab clans, not against Israel), drugs (mostly raw smoking marihuana), and ... tobacco leaves. Tobacco is a monopoly in Israel, and the sole local cigarette producer is Dubek. Once I calculated that the tobacco monopoly in Israel must be a good thing to invest in and searched for ways to buy into Dubek. It is impossible, it is a private outfit owned by the Ghel family (manager: Dr. Roy Gehl, grandson of the founder). I dont smoke and dont know the price of cigarettes. I never buy cigarettes in airport's duty free shops, in fact I dont buy anything. I do keep an eye on Dubek and it seems to be most secretive. More of a reason to study the tobacco situation in this country.

1. Are the Arabs prohibited from owning guns?
2. I would guess that the tobacco monopoly is a result of government licensing like the beer trade here in AZ. There are only three beer distributors here in AZ all of which seem to be privately held.
1. Arabs have permits to own guns as Jews do, that is, they have to have a police and a psychiatric permit. They love to hunt and fetish white weapons and firearms. People with criminal and psychiatric records cannot have weapons. Weapons permits are easy for those with Army service, and most Arabs do not serve.
1. and most Arabs do not serve.I guess that is the heart of the matter. Thank you.
Yes, but Arabs live in a tribal, clannish society, with revenge debts and so on. They need guns for surviving in their own society. Each family has its secret underground caches of antique weapons from the Turkish Empire times.
Each family has its secret underground caches of antique weapons from the Turkish Empire times.Ok, that is funny. If they are hoarding muzzle-loading weapons in case a feud breaks out they must definitely have a lot of enemies.
Yes, they are not a peaceful people. They live in permanent conflict, they maintain feuds and revenges for generations, their only security is in their family ties. In a way, the lack of union of the Arabs is our luck. They are always ready to betray their neighbors.
I think that is the Bible's description of Ishmael's descendants. Anyway, I'm distracting you from your work.
I am always on the look to be distracted. Be welcome.
Ok, I'm on your blog now after taking my brother to school and clearing out my gmail inbox. For something truly disgusting, look at this.
I just realized that my link was not clickable. Try this one instead.
