Kosher Fritters

Terrorists killed somebody this morning in Eli, near Ariel, in the Shomron. Terrible. Just to distract my distress, I imagine eating hot kosher pear fritters.

Follow Up: The man, apparently, killed himself. A suicide. No terrorists involved. We Jews consider suicide a sin, and try to avoid marrying into a family with a suicide in it. Suicides are not buried in a Jewish cemetery, but outside, or near the outer wall. It is a family shame, a family secret, better attribute it to something else.

Do you live near there, J?

I've never had a pear fritter but they look wonderful.

Is now a good time to get your opinion on the WB settlements? Should they be expanded, dismantled, left as is? You're the most prolific blogger I know so I hope you'll understand why I don't go through all your posts and find what you've said in the past....

Best wishes and stay safe.

We the Jewish have come back to our ancestral homeland to stay. Two thousand years of dispersion among the nations is enough.

That is a perfectly sensible position, J, and I think all pro-civilization forces should affirm Israel's right to exist and her rightful place among the nations of Western civilization. (As I say in my link, I also believe that one of the big apples of discord, foreign aid, should be done away with.)

It's just that a lot of people would agree with your statement 100% and still feel that the Jews should leave the West Bank. Also, I've never figured out why there was the political will to allow the settlements to happen in the first place, but not the political will to formally annex them. I'm a novice on Israeli history after about 1973.

This is definitely Israel's matter to settle without interference from North America or Jupiter or wherever. 98% of the Americans with opinions on the situation (usually stronger than mine) know less about the situation than me. I ask for information only.
