The Ministry of Interior's Oz Unit has started to work a month ago and the public outcry it has created is destroying this country. No kidding nor exageration. TV news and the papers are full of pictures of cute African children, all speaking perfect Hebrew, that are candidates to be expulsed from Israel (pic below: "Dont expulse me"). Sela has been called a Nazi, etc. His men are being attacked and beaten by the Israeli public. Human rights organizations are fighting the expulsions. The National Union of Medical Doctors is demonstrating on the streets. The President, Shimon Peres, visited a school for illegal children, and said the Jewish sensitivity says they have to stay. (Why we have that harmful idiot as our President? His predecessors were even worse.) Soon we shall have the whole United Nations against us, incited of course by Israeli and American Jews.
Sela said: "The State of Israel has decided that illegal immigrants have to go. If we do nothing in a few years we shall have a million and half foreigners here and this country's Jewish character will be history. "
It is becoming apparent that the hard core of the Jewish people is not the Ashkenazi, European Jewry, who are assimilating and dissolving like sugar in water, but the Oriental Jewries, led by Rav Ovadiah Joseph and his Shas party. It is clear that we European Jews are only a passing episode in Jewish history. The real strength is where it always was, within the Jews of Iraq, Persia, Afganistan, Syria. Shas's Yishay, the Interior Minister, is the political force behind Oz.

We will be and already are a Middle Eastern country, for sure. We Ashkenazi are a minority and less solid than our Oriental brothers. Enen inthe USA, the most dynamic Jewish groups are Persian, Syrian, Bucharan.

The Ashkenazim lived in Europe for many centuries, it can work both ways despite your intelligence. One of the perils of such intelligence is that you can pick up on large currents of thought that go unexpressed in daily conversation and either explicate them or internalize them. Some of the US's actions since 1861 easily smack of self-hate.
