The Frankfurt School derives its reputation in the conspiracy circles from the antics of Herbert Marcuse, he was an original in the sense that he could turn the whole categories into their polar opposites. For example did you know that tolerance as obtains in the US is in fact intolerance, actually repressive tolerance. Or that Communist countries such as Albania had more freedom than America? If you did not, Marcuse will put you to rights. The other doyens of the Frankfurt School dealt in recondite literary theory which had their heyday when students were serious and actually read the classics. They would be horrified that students these days are pissing through their English language courses without having read Shakespeare or Milton or any writer of classic worth, but instead manage to acquire a simulacrum of knowledge by spouting theory and the right phrases. But Marcuse was different, he was the Frankfurt School's clown.
The Americans were slipping in their sexual behaviour all through the post WW11 period. The reasons are not hard to find, money, the US passport, the Pill and freedom to travel away from prying eyes.

You need the perseverance of a yeshive bocher to read Marcuse. I never found much sense in his works. Why is The Occidental resuscitating him? I had thought that after the sixties student demonstrations, he was finally dead and forgotten. It seems that they have a lack of contemporary Jewish ideologues to fight. J, I am dilettante the little I know of Marcuse comes from reading polemics in magazines and books. I am glad I did not waste any time reading his books.
