Spanish Temperament

Una mujer es condenada a dos años de prisión tras acuchillar a su novio por llamarla "gorda".
A Spanish woman was condemned to two years in prison for stabbing her boyfriend with a knife. He had called her "fat".

Mesika: Stop the Farce

Gershon Mesika, chairman of the Shomron Regional Council in Samaria, refused to meet with Defense Minister because of the demolition order of Havat Gilad, located on privately owned Jewish land near Kedumim.
This is a farce. Barak's right hand has been evading for years to sign legal bulding permits and now his left hand wrecks those communities that he calls illegal because he himself did not approve them.
True and true. But this IS the Israeli system, this is how Israel works. The bureaucracy almost never grants a permit for anything, allowing the power-to-be to declare anything illegal any time they wish.

I Love Redheads

The IMF creates more money

The International Monetary Fund has created from thin air money, much money, and has distributed it with the order: Spend it! The idea is to combat worldwide deflation. The money is called Special Drawing Rights although tere are no notes or coins denominated in SDRs, nonetheless the SDR does play a role as an interest-bearing international reserve asset. The allocation of SDRs by the IMF boosts member countries’ reserves because SDRs can be turned into usable currencies. Thus, by virtue of the Fourth Amendment which became effective for all members on August 10, 2009 when the Fund certified that at least three-fifths of the IMF membership (112 members) with 85 percent of the total voting power accepted it. On August 5, 2009, the United States joined 133 other members in supporting the Amendment. The special allocation will be implemented on September 9, 2009. The US is going to be the largest beneficiary, with some 250 billion dollars worth of "rights".

To those who didnt know it, we do have a kind of soft World Central Bank, which is the IMF. Unfortunately, we Jews have little to do with it. IMF employees are extremely well paid.

The Argentinian Lesson

The USA owes 60% of its GNP and cannot stop spending. This is a classical Argentinian situation and the outcome will be also Argentinian. First of all, there is nothing to fear, the country will keep existing and there will be no mass hunger (Illustration: Asado a la Tabla) nor prolonged poverty. Somewhere in the next five years the bubble will burst and the USA will default in its sovereign debt. Possibly it will renegotiate it, which is the same thing. Conclusion: Sell American bonds. Second, dollars will be printed. This creates inflation - think Argentina. The dollar will be exchanged to the "new dollar" or something like that, a a rate of 100 old dollars for 1 new dollar. The new currency will be made of washable plastic, like the Australian dollar.

Taxes will rise to levels that would make a Swede revolt. Bank accounts will be frozen, bank safes opened and their contents - expropriated. The government will cut back its services and public employees's salaries will become insufficient for middle class standard of living.

Investors who dare to assume long term non-indexed dollar loans and buy productive enterprises such as rental real estate will pay back their debt at a 80 - 90% discount.

Military tensions in South America

Ecuador expulsed the Americans from the Mantilla Base and has formed an axis with Venezuela to close on Colombia. America is building bases in Colombia. Venezuela is buying Khalashnikov rifles (see Hugo Chavez playing with one) which are compatible with FARC weapons. Overall South American arms purchases have doubled.

The Attack of the Childless

I have met Mormons and they were invariably decent, nice and friendly. I didnt give much thought about how the PC establishment is attacking them. A few months ago, the Texas Child Protective Services with the assistance of the Department of Public Safety removed 401 children from a farm as police and welfare officials investigate a case of possible abuse. Scores of women have also been removed while men were arrested or ordered to stay in the farm. The sect's leader, Warren Jeffs, was sentenced in a Utah court to 10 years to life in prison as an accomplice to rape for forcing a 14-year-old girl to marry her 19-year-old first cousin.

I presume that the sterile PC establishment cannot suffer a fertile group, even if they are of the very same ethnic extraction. Other non-sterile groups may expect similar attacks: the Pennsylvania Amish, the New York Haredi Jews. If Prof. Kevin MacDonald and his friends were sincerely preoccupied with the survival of their ethnic group, they would have mobilized to defend these poor people. Because the Mormons do, while MacDonald is fighting the demons in his mind.

The Petach Tikva School Problem

Petach Tikva is a 100,000 inhabitants town south of Kever Benjamin, with a strong component of religious Jews. Four religious schools have refused to accept this year Ethiopian immigrant children, creating a national scandal. The reason is simple: The directors say that as private schools, they have project the image that they are providing a high level education to attract paying students, and experience shows that Ethiopians are "weak in the study of the Torah" (meaning, you were not born to study the Torah). The children, along with their families, underwent a formal conversion to Judaism (giyur l'chumra) as part of their aliyah (immigration) process. The religious are being attacked from another side too: gender equality. Their schools are segregated by gender, and that is unacceptable to liberals. I dont see a solution to these issues, maybe it is better to ignore and avoid them.

Waiting for the Next Big War

Patrick Buchanan has turned against democracy:
When a democracy reaches a point where the politicians cannot say no to the people, and both parties are competing for votes by promising even more spending or even lower taxes, or both, the experiment is about over.

“Remember,” said John Adams, “democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.”
It is the first time I hear an American politician coming out against democracy. I have a deep respect for Buchanan and his opinion had deeply affected me. Apparently, the situation is so bad that it is unsustainable in America. He has arrived to the conclusion that in the current demographic makeup the one-man one-vote rule is unworkable. On the other hand, it is only natural and expectable that the triumph of the Civil Rights movement of the fifties will ricochet and provoke a reaction. If the economic crisis becomes really bad, and the currency is debauched as is expected, then we are in a pre-War situation. My generation fears wars, but humanity will manage to survive, as it did for the last three million years.

The Atacama Desert Treasure

Lithium is likely to be a hot commodity in the years ahead. It so happens that about three quarters of the world's known lithium reserves are concentrated in the southern cone of Latin America-to be precise, in the Atacama Desert, which is shared by two countries: Chile and Bolivia. Bolivia is a Quechwa-ruled socialist-chaotic country, Chile is highly organized and free trade. The mining companies use up all the water available (along the rail way) but are ready to subsidize the small Indian villages up there. Another problem isthe high toxic metal content of the water.

The Guadalajara Sewer Explosion

Cars lay buried in the ruins of a blown up street in Guadalajara after the Apr. 22, 1992 explosions.

When they built the Colector Intermedio del Oriente under Reforma district in the southeastern part of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, they found out the sewer line would hit several subway tunnels. Rather than over, against gravity they would build the line UNDER the tunnels. Years later these errors in engineering would prove catastrophic to the city of 4 million people.

The strong smell of gasoline or paint thinner wafted over the streets of Analco neighborhood in the Reforma district of the city. The April heat was hitting the city and it seemed that the hotter the day, the stronger the smell. Residents would find the smell would come from the water faucets and even the toilets. What was the source of the smell?

Several residents called the city and complained. On April 20th, They called the city's water and sewer department, SIAPA. Something needed to be done, the children were getting dizzy and it was hard to sleep at night. The smell of gas was strong.

On April 21st, SIAPA department workers were sent to inspect the streets of the Analco neighborhood and that night firefighters from the Guadalajara Fire Dept. found the source to be the sewers. The mysterious gasoline smell was coming from under the streets. The firemen opted for leaving a few manholes open and letting the fumes dissipate in the air rather than build up underground. Further inspection of the sewers were scheduled for the next morning, April 22nd.

The city goverment decided to not order an evacuation. That would probably just cause panic among the thousands of residents of Reforma. Telling them their neighborhood was a ticking time bomb was foolish. Such panic would cost the city money. Trinidad Lopez Rivas, the city's fire chief decided not to order an evacuation pending further inspections of the city's sewer system. In March 1983, Sierra Morena Street had exploded, causing dozens of injuries. A nearby clinic had illegally dumped chemicals into the sewer causing the blast. Would there be a repeat of that event?

It was 9 am on April 22, 1992. People drove to work, rode the city buses to and fro and children walked the streets. Vendors sold their food and drinks in little stalls on street corners in the neighborhood, a typical spring day. A group of firefighters descended into the sewer in order to find out where all the gasoline was leaking from.

At 10 am, the search was called off. At that time, white steam was seen pouring out of storm drains and manhole covers were popping, shooting high into the air. The firefighters had not yet reached the surface when five minutes later, a spark, perhaps from a lit cigarette, or a pilot light, or the spark of a manhole cover being dropped into place, unleashed a huge explosion. The ground under Gante and Aldama Street exploded in a huge cloud of dust, hurling cars, buses and trucks into the air like toys and tearing people apart. Eight kilometers of street exploded, one after another. Gante Street exploded. 20th of November St. exploded, Violeta St. exploded, Rio Nilo St. exploded, Doctor R. Michel St. exploded, Corregidora St. exploded, ten huge blasts, ripping apart the streets, and blowing up the adobe homes lining them, killing almost everyone who were on the streets at the time.

A city bus full of people fell into one of the trenches, its passengers killed or seriously injured. A big rig landed on top of a house. A pickup truck fell on a crowd of people pleasantly eating a snack at a taco stand. A Telmex telephone employee working on a telephone line was killed, his body cut in two. Another headless body, hung grotesquely entangled on a telephone pole. A enormous mushroom cloud of dust rose over downtown Guadalajara and the explosions sounded like thunder. Stunned witnesses wondered what was happening in the direction of the Reforma district.

The emergency calls started pouring into the Red Cross stations in the city. A bus full of people had been swallowed up by a hole in the street. A whole street had exploded. Many people were trapped inside their collapsed homes. There were bloody, dirt covered bodies everywhere. There had been in explosion. Something ghastly had happened in Analco.

Rescue workers and ambulances were met by dozens of people, screaming and crying running for their lives away from Gante St. "The city is blowing up!" one man cried. They wanted to get away from the streets that were erupting beneath them. Radio stations were reporting what had happened in an alarmist sense:

"Guadalajara has practically disappeared"

For an hour after 10:05 am, more explosions rocked the area. Calzada Gonzalez Gallo blew up. Calzada del Ejercito also exploded. Sometime after 12 noon, residents of the city, in fear, popped open the manhole covers to let the fumes dissipate in case there was any gas under their streets. At 1:38 PM, several neighborhoods including Mexicaltzingo, 8 de Julio, Polanco and La Nogalera as well as downtown Tlaquepaque, a Guadalajara suburb were evacuated as a precaution. Residents of the other three sectors of the city, Juarez, Libertad and Hidalgo, for fear of the entire city exploding in a mass cataclysm, hopped in their cars and fled the city to other towns or "to the hills."

Residents of the Reforma borough got to work right away, digging out the survivors and carrying them on improvised stretchers; a wooden plank or a broken door. The broken bodies of men women and children were pulled out, covered in dust and some horribly mutilated and taken to a nearby stadium for identification. Ambulances drove in and out of the neighborhood all morning and afternoon. Miles of streets had exploded, following the Colector Intermedio del Oriente sewer line. 20 city blocks had blown up. But what had caused the explosion? Residents had complained of a gas smell. Now the city and survivors were asking: Why was nothing done?

Jalisco state Governor Guillermo Cossio Vidaurri flew over the ravaged area. It looked as if Guadalajara had been bombed. Where streets, sidewalks and trees once were, now it was a jagged deep, debris filled trench full of rubble and cars flipped upside down or buried as if by a pissed off giant. He saw swarms of people, soldiers and police crowding over the collapsed buildings, rescuing the injured and bringing out the dead. Who was responsible for the disaster? By late evening on April 22, 180 bodies had been recovered from rubble, hundreds more injured and more than 10,000 were made homeless.

A hasty investigation quickly blamed the disaster on the accumulation of volatile Hexane gas in the sewers. Leaked Hexane mixed with Methane gas, a byproduct of human waste had caused the sewers to catastrophically explode. The mayor of Guadalajara Enrique Dau Flores quickly lay blame on a cooking oil factory La Central, which was near the destroyed neighborhood.

The manager of La Central told the media "I refuse to be a scapegoat in this tragedy. There has been no leaks here at the plant". Checks conducted in the blown up sewers found large pools of gasoline. The residents had complained of a "gasoline" smell not Hexane, which has no smell .President Carlos Salinas de Gortari toured the devastated area and gave an ultimatum: "The people responsable for the disaster must be found in 72 hours".

The people didnt believe the city's explanation that La Central was to blame. Further investigation found the soil around a Petroleos Mexicanos (PEMEX), Mexico's Oil monopoly gas distribution plant, saturated with gasoline. The ground was wet and the stench of gasoline was strong. The gasoline pipeline from the huge Salamanca refinery in Guanajuato state to the city of Guadalajara ran nearby. The plant was also blocks away from there the explosions originated.

Two pipelines had been laid together, one from one kind of metal and another from another type. This caused a chemical reaction between the two, causing them to rust and form holes. One pipe held gasoline, the other water. The gasoline leaked into the sewer through cracks in the tunnels and the pools of gasoline formed undetected for weeks. Rather than the gasoline flowing freely in the sewer they were backed up by a U shaped plug that went under a Subway tunnel. The gasoline flowed but the fumes were stuck with nowhere to go. That is when the residents began to notice the smell of gasoline. The sewers were pressurized bombs, only needing a tiny spark to set them off.

In all, more than 230 people officially died in the sewer blasts with hundreds more injured. Not surprisingly as tends to happen when a disaster happens in Mexico, the survivors dispute the final death toll. Many recall seeing hundreds upon hundreds of dead, perhaps the death toll being 1,000. Photographs were published of dead bodies bearing the numbers 923 and 700, but the goverment atributted these numbers to the erroneous double counting of cadavers and bad coordination among the places storing the bodies.

Mexico City Under Water

Mexico City was built on a swamp of deep clay. The city is pumping from the aquifer below much more than the natural recharge, so the clay is contracting and the city is sinking about 10 centimeters a year. The dictator Porfirio Diaz built the first drain the chronic inundations the city was subjected to, the Gran Canal del Desagüe, which was supplemented by several Emisores (draining channels), none of which is maintained. These drains are also used to discharge the sewage produced by the city's 20 million inhabitants. There is a problem: the city has been sinking and the draining channel's original slope has been lost. The Emisor Central was built to discharge 170 cu m per second, but now it can discharge only 120. A fifty year rain will require 350, which is not there, so Mexico City will be flooded with water and sewage. "Fortunately" - there is 60 year drought. I worked with TAHAL in Mexico, and wonder if they are still there. The water planning work required could maintain TAHAL for a generation.

Ukraine Disintegrating

Since June Ukraine has not had a defence minister. Its economy contracted by 18% in the second quarter of the year. A disaster. It reminds me of the native peoples that lost their elan vital when in contact with the West. I hope they will recover. The Economist has a good report on the situation.

Swine Flu Virus (and J) ... Defeated !

BiondVax, an Israeli company has developed a vaccine against the SwineFlu that is working. The trading in its shares was stopped, but not before it went up 1200%. I had this startup in my hot list, but lately I was too distracted to seize this opportunity. What did I learn: Not a moment of distraction is permitted!

Raffay: We Have Been Thinking of Ending TRIANON

Every schoolchild in HUngary knows what Trianon is: the post WWI agreement to dismember Hungary and reduce it to a small powerless Central European country. Almost a century after, Hungarians still are thinking to reverse it and now Raffay, a former member of the Hungarian military establishment, reveals how near they were to intervene in the last Balkan war. He says that Hungary weighted to take part in the Serbian - Croat war, occupying Serb lands peopled by ethnic Hungarians. He mentions this and other opportunities that were not seized. Example: When ChecoSlovakia broke up, for several month the Slovaks had no army at all. When YugoSlavia, Hungary provided Khalashnikov rifles and ammunition to the Croats, but could have organized and armed the Ethnic Hungarians to secede. Quote:
Translation: In 1989 the Trianon arrangement collapsed, as two of the three countries created by it fall apart. There are many thoughts that we could regain ethnic Hungarian territories. Conclusion: Central European stability is not a given, it can collapse suddenly. Corollarium: If Hungary succeeded in retaking some of its former lands, the whole post-War II Yalta agreement could be in danger of unraveling.

Just now there is a dispute between Hungary and Slovakia about the borderlands peopled by ethnic Hungarians. Raffay says that Hungary has no more a national army, so it is meaningless.

The Imperial and the Mexicali Irrigation Systems

USA MEXICO DECLARATION:

The U.S. authorities acknowledged the growing national and international focus on the Colorado River as a result of the ongoing historic drought in the basin. The U.S. authorities also noted recent innovative agreements among the seven U.S. states that rely on the Colorado River.

The authorities from both nations expressed their interest in order to reinforce bilateral cooperation regarding issues related to the lower portion of the Colorado River; acknowledged areas of concern regarding water conservation actions, while highlighting emerging innovative and comprehensive concepts that could be used to benefit water users in both the U.S. and Mexico.

In that regard, authorities from both nations agreed that the IBWC, a treaty-based bilateral organization with over a century of successful collaboration, should be utilized to expedite discussions in coming weeks to further Colorado River cooperation. Among the issues expected to be addressed are:

continued needs of both nations for water for urban, agricultural and environmental purposes, the study of the hydrological system and potential impacts of climate change, including the effects of the ongoing historic Colorado River drought;
environmental priorities, including Colorado River Delta habitat protection and enhancement;
opportunities for water conservation, storage and supply augmentation, such as seawater desalination and reuse; strategies aimed to ease variations in the Colorado River system;
potential opportunities for more efficient Colorado River water deliveries to Mexico.

Dairy Plant Design

I got a difficult job. A dairy farmer in the South with 100 milching cows says the farm does not produce enough for three families and he cannot increase the number of cows because of milk quotas. He wants to build a dairy products plant, not only for Israel (which is extremely difficult in itself) but for export. He wants FDA accreditation (here only TARA has it) and EU import licences. I see I'll have to work very hard on this project. This project was "begetted" by my success in the goat milk products enterprise design and permitting, which I hear is prospering mightily. Life is so difficult.

Drought in Mexico and Texas

As said, this blog will focus more in water issues. A once in 70 years drought is punishing Mexico and Texas. I think this year grain imports in Mexico and India will be larger, with better agricultural commodity prices. Mexico needs to improve water use in irrigation and in municipal distribution.

Water problems in Israel

I would say that the main problem is the destruction of the human capital in water engineering. The sole water engineering course in Technion was closed down about a decade ago and no young engineers are coming to the profession. The deficit was covered by the influx of Russian engineers a decade ago, but they are getting old too. The basic water planning organisms like TAHAL were disbanded and not replaced. We have no Water Master Plan for the last five or six years. Existing engineers survive selling domestic water purifiers, which are all snake oil remedies.

The second problem is the long term mismanagement of the resources. Hydrological data shows that the pumping of water had already exceeded the level of what is termed in hydrology the “safe yield” in the mid-sixties. Then followed the salinization process in practically all the major aquifers. On lowering the water table sea water and geological brines burst upward into the fresh water body. Over the years the demand for water has steadily increased. For example, in the past 12 years the increase in the demand was nearly 40 million cubic meters per year annually.

Overpumping and sewage reuse is causing the following effects:

a) Salinization by salt water intrusion, which eliminates at least 10 million cubic meters per year annually, thus reducing the availability of fresh water sources. As an example, nearly 20% of the coastal aquifer cannot be utilized due to salinity.

b) The volume of the operational reservoir has been reduced. This year the Sea of Galilee has been emptied to an all-time low exceeding the red danger line. The major source of the mountain aquifer is in a similar situation and has also almost reached the red line. And finally, in the major coastal aquifer, the reservoir has been reduced by several billion cubic meters of water.

c) Pollution: In municipal water uses some 100-120 milligrams of chlorine is added, with over 200 milligrams of total salts per liter. The re-use of sewage water and the infiltration of unused sewage have added over 200,000 tons of salts to the aquifers every year. Moreover, they have added nitrates, soluble organic materials, heavy metals and other chemicals, including carcinogenic ones. The exhaustion of the water resources and the recycling of sewage leaves no leaching or cleaning of the aquifers. In effect, this situation will lead to the gradual and complete destruction of water resources.

Technology will save us: Desalination. The problem is you need competent bureaucracy to implement it, which is not available.

Alert to the Next Bubble

Stiglitz said that the U.S. and Europe have flooded the global economy with liquidity, which could lead to speculative bubbles due to limited opportunities for investment. The Fed cut the benchmark lending rate to as low as zero and expanded credit to the economy by $1.1 trillion over the past year. In the euro region, the European Central Bank has reduced interest rates to a record low of 1 percent.

So we have a strong worldwide tendency to inflationary bubbles. I have to identify early the next bubble and sell before the next fool. Bigod said that magazine covers are an indicator of the next bubble. I say Googgle search words are. On alert! The next opportunity to become rich is around the corner!

Professor: "Howling errors of a factor of 16"

I love the entertaining blog fight between Judge Posner and Professors Menzie Chinn (very cool), Economic Council Member Romer and Bradley DeLong. They cant agree on the macroeconomic impact of the stimulus package and they are calling each other by names. I think the critiques of Prof. DeLong and Prof. Chinn (both very good) reflect faithfully the differences between the Jewish and the Chinese mind. Although I feel that Chinn is less polite than a typical Chinese. He must have been working for too long among Jews.

Water Paranoia in Egypt

Egyptian press is saying that Israel might cause a water shortage in the country, recalling Lieberman's anti-Egypt comments and his suggestion to strike the Aswan Dam. "The water wars have begun, and our wicked neighbors are busy destroying Egypt's relations with the states of the Nile Basin," wrote Jabar Ramadan in Al-Masry Al-Youm.

The Egyptian journalist and scholar Amru Mohammed, writing in Akhbar Al-Bashir, recalled that in 1903 Theodor Herzl submitted to the British a plan for diverting the waters of the Nile, and that years later Israel attempted to persuade Egypt to give it water from the river. The arguments were marshaled in order to warn of an ostensible threat of war. "The signs of the water war are already visible and the crisis will come against the background of the [water] agreements that are being signed between Israel and Ethiopia," Mohammed wrote. "Israel's meddling with the Nile's waters and its cooperation with the Nile Basin states signal a disaster, a water disaster." (reported by HaAretz)
Arab people will believe everything evil about Israel. Herzl in 1903 submitted a plan to the British... well, well, well! In 1903 Zionism was an idea in the minds of a dozen European Jews and Egypt did not exist as a nation. Yes, in the fifties Israel did propose to Egypt to build a pipeline from the nearest branch of the Nile to Gaza, but the Egyptians said that they needed every drop so the idea was dropped. We arrived to the conclusion that the dreams of regional water co-operation are ... dreams, so we are basing our future (and the Palestinian's future) on desalination. Irrational, anti-economic, very expensive, but wars are more expensive. They can have all the Nile to themselves. We are not going to dispute it.

Climate Change is Real

Bloomberg: Australian wine production at Foster’s Group Ltd. is planting Spanish varieties such as Tempranillo and cooling vines with sprinklers to combat one of the industry’s biggest threats: climate change.

The winemaker is harvesting on average three weeks earlier than two decades ago, giving the grapes less time to develop flavors. The company is trying mist sprays, originally installed to battle frost, to cool grapes, while Constellation Brands Inc. is building underground watering systems.

Europe: The Center is Holding

Europe did not fall apart as everybody predicted but it has grown to be an unified political unit. Its central institutions are working and it is able to operate as a military block. It is larger than the USA and its GNP is larger than China. Reading the papers, specially American ones, it is not so obvious. But the thing exists.

The South African Paradox

While Zimbabwe has collapsed and is cholera country, South Africa is prospering. How is that the transfer of power to the 80% African majority has done nothing but good to the economy? May be the power transfer was apparent and the inner core of the South African State has remained in the hands of the Bruderband? If so, it is being done with much sophistication, because the liberal world suspects nothing and lets South Africa in peace.

Actual White emigration is far from massive, less than 10% of the population have left and many are coming back. The main complaint is criminal violence, but that is typical of all Africa and little can be done to ameliorate the situation.

How did South African Whites pull off this PR miracle?

The Israeli Economic Miracle

The Economistpublishes today its tables of economic indices and it appears that the only country in the list that is growing is Israel. Excepting China, whose numbers are n.a. or suspect. The shekel keeps strengthening and the Central Bank here is buying up dollars every day to keep it down (without success). I suspect that given the ongoing weakening of the dollar, alert people in the USA are moving some monies to Israel. But strong shekel could damage the local export industry, so the Bank buys up the excess. We are in the same dollar trap as the Chinese and the Japanese.

Worldwide economic panorama is very bad, there is an universal decrease in economic activity that confirming Professor Hamilton's cool-eyed appraisal, is not improving. The situation in Eastern Europe seems catastrofic: Ukraine is producing 20% less, Lituania 22% less, Estonia 17% less, Latvia 18% less, and resource-rich Russia 10% less. These countries are getting poorer by leaps and they may end becoming underdeveloped once more, ready to welcome back German and Jewish colonists. Which there are no more. Apparently a hundred years of Communism and post-Communism have really exiled and/or liquidated the middle class and the masses remaining are having difficulties to maintain a viable economy. This will be self-corrected in one or two generations, by eugenic breeding that I am sure is taking place, or by re-colonization by middle-class peoples like Armenians, Greeks and others available. Maybe Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese.

Bringing Down the Berlin Wall Once More in Israel

Roger Waters from the Pink Floyd came to Israel and condemned the wall that protects Israel from Palestinian criminals. He is a famous rock star, singing over the 1982 fall of the Berlin Wall. That tremendous success has marked his mind forever, and he keeps searching for the new Berlin Wall to sing over. He has found it in Israel. Waters says:
You can see photographs of something like this, but until you've seen the actual edifice itself and seen what it's doing to these communities . . . It's hard to comprehend that they could be doing this.
" He wrote a graffiti on the wall: "No thought control". This Learning Engineer, who lives with his family at a stone throw distance from the wall, says: Waters, you sing well, but you are wrong. Who wants to control the thoughts of anybody? This wall has been built to keep out the savages and to allow me to live with some measure of safety. Why it is evil? Why it is controlling thought? Can you Waters imagine living in the same street with people who only thinks of killing you?

As Predicted: No Water in the High Andes

As predicted, the High Andes communities are going dry. Now it is Cuenca, Ecuador, that has suspended the water supply. The Water Works manager Fausto Sarmiento said that the problem is the lack of rains.

Slipping toward Depression

Professor James Hamilton in the excellent Econobrowser has been warning that he is not seeing the signs of economic recovery that everybody is talking about. On the contrary, he keeps harping on the theme that there are chances of a long depression. "...aligning the March 2009 bottom with what proved to be a temporary low at the end of 1929, invites the interpretation that we've just turned down on a long, long descent."

Exactly what I need in my current bad mood. In the end of the note, he reminds us:
But let us at least agree on this much-- stock prices can go down as well as up.

Spain: No More Catholic

Spain used to have an official State Religion: La Iglesia Catolica Romana y Apostolica. Masses and religious ceremonies were compulsory in schools, state events and specially in the Army (see the military ceremony of taking the Christ of the Good Death to a procession, in Malaga. In the original: Legionarios en el desprendimiento del Cristo de la Buena Muerte para su procesión en Málaga). No more. The Spanish lost their faith and the Spanish State is shedding its religion.

How to Kill an Industry

The Luddites are winning in the West. Salon writes an article how a group of Greenpeace activists organized public protest against a coal powered electricity plant in England, closing it. (The pic shows one protester climbing the chimney of the Kingsnorth plant. The six climbers became media heroes. They were rescued by police helicopters.) In the USA, oil refiners are taxed for emmissions to the point that the whole business is becoming unprofitable. Nuclear power plant industry is effectively dead in America and in Europe. The campaign against the energy industry has now such a strong momentum that in the near future, there will be no more cheap electricity nor cheap oil. Industrialization is built on energy - coal and oil. Seems to me that people is not thinking to the end about what they are doing. Sixty years of peace in the West is relaxing basic survival instincts. People seem to act on the belief that current peace, prosperity and abundance is a given, and attacking and destroying its foundation will do nothing to it. My feeling is opposite: what we have is so fragile that a few careless actions can bring on us a catastrophe.

On Being Over Eighty

The New York Times writes about something I have been observing lately: old folks, in very good physical condition, running early in the morning in Kever Benjamin streets. They carry blood pressure watches and talk business through their headphones while running. Amazing!

1932-33 Collectivization in Ukraine

Arthur Koestler, the famous writer who visited Ukraine in late summer of 1932 and fall 1933 and who spent about three months in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv writes in The God That Failed:
I saw the ravages of the famine of 1932-1933 in the Ukraine: hordes of families in rags begging at the railway stations, the women lifting up to the compartment window their starving brats, which, with drumstick limbs, big cadaverous heads and puffed bellies, looked like embryos out of alcohol bottles ...
Koestler wrote a book on his impressions of the Soviet Union, commisioned by the party, but it was not published.

Self Doubt in America

I am seeing signs of self-doubt and loss of confidence in America. Not good. From The Business Insider, August 14, 2009:
If there's one thing most American capitalists agree on it's that Europe's economy is a disaster. It never grows, it takes years to fire lazy employees, there's no entrepreneurialism and innovation, they tax they living hell out of you, etc.

And yet look who's recovering first?

And look who didn't even bother with a stimulus (Germany). And look whose citizens enjoy basic services that many Americans can only dream of (Europe). And look whose income inequality just hit an all-time high (U.S.)

So is Europe's economy really that much of a disaster? Is ours really so great?

Water for the Kingdom of Jordan

I have the impression that the Jordanians are planning that Israel will solve their acutely growing water supply problems. Israel already is supplying much of the water consumed by the capital, Amman.

Jordan's annual water demand currently exceeds 1.3 billion m³ having nearly doubled since the mid-90s. Jordan's renewable water resources can supply around 750 million m³/year, leaving an annual deficit which has grown steadily, despite the investment in the water sector. Water demand is a function of the population, and Jordan's populations i growing about 3% per year. In addition, the political stability of the country has attracted half a million Iraqi refugees, 300,000 Egyptian guest workers, 200,000 Syrians and many other Arab and African illegals.

Another issue is climate change. Apparently (I am yet unconvinced on this subject), the Eastern Mediterranean is undergoing a drying up cycle. Jordanian scientists in A sudden change in rainfall characteristics in Amman, Jordan during the mid 1950s American Journal of Environmental Sciences, July, 2006 by Mahmoud M. Smadi, Ahmed Zghoul found that this phenomenon started in the fifties.

Jordan's hope is to pump fossil water under the dessert, and are building a 200-mile pipeline that will pump water from the Disi aquifer in the southern city of Mudawarra to Amman. Funding the $1 billion cost of the undertaking will be done by GAMA Energy (a subsidiary of GE Energy Financial Services), which will invest $190 million, the Ministry of Water and Irrigation of Jordan will provide a $300 million grant, and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation of the United States, the European Investment Bank and Proparco of France will collectively provide $455 million. Of course, fossil water exploitation is not sustainable and the water is liable to be brackish (The Negev's is).

A likely scenario is that Israel will deliver low quality surface waters to the Palestinians and Jordanians - as annual tribute to their leaving us in peace - and we shall consume desalinated seawater.

Chinese Hypergamy

A new and fresh blogger writes about the new reproductive system emerging very fast in China. Rich and powerful people is maintaining second and third wives, and one official (in charge of infrastucture projects!) had 140 concubines. This system in a population with about 30% more young men than women, may cause instability and revolution, according the blogger.
This is the reason why China will not become the next superpower. A growing population of woman-less betas is a recipe for anarchy and chaos. I predict that the current regime in Beijing will be toppled sometime in the next fifty years. And when the government falls, the usual suspects among the pundit class will cheer it as a victory for democracy and freedom, claiming how the Chinese “yoof” wanted to breathe free or some nonsense, when in fact, all it was was a bunch of horny young guys who just wanted to get laid.
Nicely written, but wrong. First of all, the intense competition will surely weed out weak and mediocre males from reproductive privileges, leaving only the best of the best. It is an eugenic system, improving Chinese gene pool accumulatively. Western societies are dysgenic, so in a few generations we will be White trash for racist Chinese.

The blogger proposes that Chinese society will disintegrate and collapse under the unbearable social tensions of a few mandarins monopolizing reproductive privileges. That is wrong. There have been similar societies in the past and they have been not more unstable than others. Morocco, for example, in the nineteenth century, was ruled by a king with four hundred or so wives and concubines, and rich men proportionally provided. Paralelly, Morocco was famous for its prostitution, male and female, which served the whole Sahara. Arthur Koestler on the basis of the licences granted by the French administration, calculated that half of the women (of reproductive ages) of Morocco were engaged in prostitution. Overly male societies, like armies, like Argentina in the time of the immigration, were always well serviced by professionals and amateurs. The Chinese society before the Communist Revolution also had much prostitution and drugs. Hypergamy, in itself, will not destroy China. On the contrary.

HaAretz Buries Obama

HaAretz paper, tht last bastion of Israeli left-wing extremism, has taken a position against Obama. The corespondent Gideon Levy writes: "Obama's America is not delivering the goods".
With great sorrow and deep consternation, we hereby declare the death of the latest hope. Perhaps rumors of its death are greatly exaggerated, to paraphrase the famous quote by Mark Twain, but the fears are being validated day after day. Barack Obama's America is not delivering the goods. Sharing a glass of beer with a racist cop and a pat on the back of Hugo Chavez are not what we hoped for.
If HaAretz is against Obama, who is for him? I cant see no one in Israel.

The Meat Products Factory Job

I have been called to an urgent permitting job for a pork meat packing factory South of Tel Aviv. The firm, founded by a Romanian Jew, produces pork products like salami and so, and was about to close some years ago but the Russian immigration saved it. Thanks to the million so new pork-loving customers, the factory is prospering and purchased four neighboring properties and has gradually re-modelled the old building into a complex unit. From the water supply and sewage aspect it is a complete mess, they have four different water meters, and 6 grease interceptors. My job is to map the piping and try to rationalize it, and of course get the permit for the whole factory. They had another engineer doing the job but apparently he gave up.

As I toured the plant taking pictures, I arrived to the "katzavia" - the butchery department, where twenty or so young Russians with big knives were cutting up the pork carcasses. One Russian commented: "Look, this is how a Jew (me) looks like, he comes with a camera taking pictures of you!" The language spoken in the factory is Russian, all the workers (except accounting) are Christian Russians, and they have not shedded their jovial Russian antisemitism. The pork plant is not kosher and it has no external signs seen from the street. It also produces for export, which is not suprising, given that in pre-war Hungary, the famous Hungarian salami industry - Herz, Pick - had been a Jewish industry. Paradoxically, the pork industry in Central Europe was a Jewish activity, it is perfectly kosher for religious Jews to deal in non-kosher industries for a living. Incredibly, Israel may yet supply salamis to Hungary.

Which country most dislikes Obama?

Israel. He is very unpopular here.

Eric Kaufman vs Kevin MacDonald

"While we agree (with Kevin MacDonald) that the United States had an Anglo-Protestant ethnic core, we disagree about why this dominant ethnic group lost power."(Eric Kaufman).

Lost power? That is bad. If WASPs lost power in the USA, so we can in Israel.

Risk Society

I received several commissions to write environmental impact assessment reports, mostly for agricultural enterprises. I am required to research, assess and quantify all possible risk factors, even the most esoteric and paranoid. Sometimes I have to ask myself what they are afraid of? but always there is a real hidden risk somewhere, although remote as the Arcturus galaxy. I am investigating the potential reaction of a bakery's sewage on the other fluids in the system. Will they generate noxious gases? All this costs a lot of money. We are increasingly fighting phantom risks, we are a "risk society" increasingly preoccupied with absolute ideal safety, which generates the notion of risk. The State looks at the individual as a potential hazard source, and to create a totally safe and riskless environment, it will end by putting all of us behind a sterile glass compound.

Ivanhoe: The Jewish - Viking Gene Cluster

As the DNA of more people is analyzed, some unexpected associations are being discovered. The "Ivanhoe" cluster is the symbolical name of MRCA for Jewish R1b1b2a1a1d1* L47+ L44-(~1% of Jewish people ~130 000) and some English and Highland Scottish clans (Clouds, Hadley, Burns and Rattray) cluster. These people are descended from one man who lived in the 10th century.

Race in California Water Wars

It appears that the California race war is not limited to the Chino prison. Aguanomics blog describes one take of California's increasing difficulties in assigning its water resoures. He quote one Paul Rodriguez on the "Latino Water Coalition":
“When I say Latino Water Coalition a lot of you automatically say, ‘Why Latino? Doesn't everyone need water, Paul? Why just you Latinos and as a Caucasian person I take offense to that, why does everything have to be segregated?’ I don't know. I don't know but we're using this. We're using this race card in a positive manner, a cloak. You know everybody's welcome to this. The reason why we call it the Latino Water Coalition [is] because it gives them a pause. ‘Better not attack these Latinos, we don't know.’ If we call it the Caucasian Coalition, you bet they would already be attacking us. Because Caucasians, sadly to say, who is defending you? I am. You know, just to put that to rest, there's no division."
Mr Rodriguez is saying that a racial war is going on in California, assuming that everybody knows that, and he is offering the protection of the Latino race group to the Caucasians, who presumable are weaker and in need of protection.

Change

Whatever the numbers, American unemployment צmust be hurting. Americans lived on credit and have no savings. The economy is not going to rebound as in former recessions, because this is not a cyclical inventory recession but the factories that used to hire people are no more. New industries have to be created, and I dont see them anywhere. No capital is channeled to productive enterprises. Britain, eventually, found its place as a tourist/entertainment economy. The USA is too big for that.

Follow Up: Pat Buchanan quotes "if one uses the household survey of job losses for June-July, Hispanics gained 150,000 positions, while non-Hispanics lost 679,000. Guess who got the stimulus jobs." Apparently, the hardest hit sector is the White lower middle class, and the colored sectors are advancing. Exactly as my update of La Griffe's seminal ten years old paper shows (see note a week ago). My intuition was correct to the smallest detail, except on the Chicago meat packing industry, which I did not know that had evaporated 40 years ago. Obama is making a big mistake in openly favoring his own race in times of crisis. America is no more prosperous and it will not be tolerated. Obama started wrongly by calling Israelis to "a honest self-appraisal", as if we were not honest enough. Throwing money to Wall Street from helicopters will not pacify the Jewish people. Let see if my intuition that the opposition will coalesce around Jewish intellectuals comes to be true.

The Outcome of the Dosadi Experiment in California

The Dosadi Experiment is a sci-fi description of a toxic planet prison where two different species, the Gowachin and humans, are forced to coexist under an artificial political framework. This secret experiment was set up by the Frog People's High Council to study how two of the Consciency's main species would interact in extreme conditions. The Chino prison is trying to put into effect a 2005 Supreme Court decision that prohibits racial segregation of prison inmates. The forced desegration is increasing racial tensions in the prison. One block of the Chino prison was burned down and others destroyed. “All races had injuries,” Lieutenant Hargrove said of the weekend riot. “But there are a greater number of injuries among Hispanic and black inmates. And we did have another incident that occurred in May, a riot between blacks and Hispanics, and this may be associated with that incident.”

Spoiler: The Dosadi Experiment ends with Humans starting a war of extermination against the Gowachin, mass escape from the planet prison and vengeance against the Gowachin who set up the experiment.

How Do Kever Benjamin Girls Look Like?

Marx Thought: Its Relevance

Karl Marx lead the dream life of a Jew, sitting every day in the British Museum studying, writing, debating, like Tevie The Milkman's song:

If I were rich, I'd have the time that I lack
To sit in the synagogue and pray.
And maybe have a seat by the Eastern wall.
And I'd discuss the holy books with the learned men, several hours every day.
That would be the sweetest thing of all.

One Marxian idea is the cyclical crises of capitalist overproduction. Is the current crisis a problem of lack of markets? Apparently Obama's economic leadership thinks so, because they are creating artificial demand by public spending and by buying and destroying older cars. Marx said that demand was created by colonial wars, but today it is being supplemented by Government stimulus to encourage civilian spending.

Another Marxian concept is the bitter struggle between finance capital and industrial capital. Could the packaging of subprime mortgages and widepread spaculation interpreted as a battle between two kind of capitals, the indistrial investment and the financial speculative?

The next concept is the need for the Capital to create a hungry “reserve army” of the unemployed, which is the Capital’s weapon in beating down the minimum wage and increasing the hours of the working week. The mass immigration of Mexicans to America - allowed by Bush - intended to create this reserve army of cheap and ready temporary workers.

Globalization is a Marxian idea. Any problem in a colonial market leads to chaos and panic at the center of the system. Giant banks like Lehmann could not resist the panic. Other concepts are the inevitable falling rate of profit, and the tendency to monopoly.

The only way out of these defects of the capitalist system was, according to Marx, colonial wars. These wars would destroy vast amounts of stock and create the demand to move the wheels of production. The Iraq war fulfilled its mission but now, what?

The Schwarzenegger Stomach Ache

Yesterday night I took my daughter to Black'n'Burger, the fancy new restaurant of Tzachi Buchschester in Kever Benjamin shtetl, and ate a Schwarzenegger, which is a 200 gr hamburger. My stomach ached all night. Like my father, I cannot safely eat or drink on the street or in restaurants.

Hey Nazi! Gibb-A-Kikk!

Some new admirers of Hitler started to comment in this blog. Please Gibb-A-Kikk (Yiddisch for "Look Carefully!) at your predecessors. These are the happy ones because they got numbers and a trial, the others were shot on the spot.

Ukraine 1942

According to archival figures, the Red Army suffered in Stalingrad a total of 1,129,619 total casualties; 478,741 men killed or missing and 650,878 wounded. The Soviet authorities executed 13,500 soviet soldiers during the battle, equivalent to an entire division. In all, the battle resulted in an estimated total of 1.7 million to 2 million Axis and Soviet casualties. (From the Wiki).

Has the kind reader noticed: The Soviet Army executed 13,500 of its own soldiers to incentivate the others? Now, that is to be Decided to Win! The political leader of the battle was Nikita Khrushchev from Ukraine.

Khrushchev is also notable for leading the collectivization in Ukraine, that resulted in a manmade famine and mass starvation (pic: 1936 Khrushchev and Stalin). The antisemites say that Jews were specially active in this campaign. I bet they were! Only ten years before hundreds of pogroms were carried out by Ukrainian nationalists and the number of Jews killed is estimated to be between 35 and 50 thousand. Archives declassified after 1991 provide evidence of a higher number; in the period from 1918 to 1921, "according to incomplete data, at least 100,000 Jews were killed in Ukraine in the pogroms."

Some revisionist wrote in the comments that we Jews purposefully caused the starvation and massive death of the Ukrainian people. The events happened a hundred years ago and I have no direct information. But Ukrainian peasant's mass starvation came only ten years after the pogroms that killed about 10% of the Ukrainian Jewry. Was there some cause-effect relationship? I dont know, but if I was an antisemite planning pogroms on Jews, I would think it twice and think it thrice. As they say, לא אלמן ישראל - The Jewish People is Not Helpless.

Faking Green Jobs

I went to the Bureau of Labor Statistics website to see what the green job business was about. First shock: Logging, sawmill and wood preservation jobs are considered "Green". So those Spotted Woodpecker (or was it an owl?) Exterminators have succeeded in changing their colors and now are green. Not only green, but shining Emerald green. In fact, the most numerous green workers (except Government jobs) are in logging.

As expected, the Government employs most other green workers. 76 percent of forest and conservation technicians were employed by the federal government. Environmental engineers earned an hourly mean wage of $37.49, making this the highest paying of the occupations in the green sector.

What, only forestry and conservation people are "Green"? It appears that the Government has difficulty to identify other "green" jobs. They dont know what a Green job is and where to find it. They have reservations about bureaucrats: They are Government employees, therefore they can be calsssified as white, black, yellow, but not green.

Another interesting data: There are only 10 million production workers in the USA. The finance industry employs more people than the whole American manufacturing. Finance is automatic and driven by computers, yet the quantity of people working in selling life insurance is astronomic.

It appears that the de-industrialization is largely over and irrelevant, it is a process that affects very few people (and none of them important), because less than 3 in 100 Americans is an industrial worker. Americans have learned to produce with few people, like in agriculture before.

The Military is an important occupational sector, more than manufacturing. It is a vital organization to keep the country purposefully busy and occupied. America needs permanent enemies, like in the novel 1984, and Bin Laden - thanks Allah - provides that necessary function. Like Goldberg in 1984, Bin Laden cannot die. America needs him. Somebody must be thinking on how to turn Bin Laden "green".

Jewish Ethnic Jokes

A car hit an elderly Jewish man. The paramedic says, "Are you comfortable?"
The man says, "I make a good living."

I just got back from a pleasure trip.
I took my mother-in-law to the airport.

She was at the beauty shop for two hours.
That was only for the estimate.

The doctor gave me six months to live.
I couldn't pay my bill, so the doctor gave me another six months.

The Doctor called Mrs. Cohen saying, "Mrs. Cohen, your check came back."
Mrs. Cohen answered, "So did my arthritis!"

Doctor: "You'll live to be 70!"
Patient: "I AM 70!"
Doctor: "See! What did I tell you?"

A doctor held a stethoscope up to a man's chest.
The man asks, "Doc, how do I stand?"
The doctor said "That's what puzzles me!"

Patient: "I have a ringing in my ears."
Doctor: "Don't answer!"

A drunk was in front of a judge. The judge says, "You've been brought here for drinking."
The drunk says "Okay, let's get started."

A bum asked a Jewish fellow, "Give me $10 till payday."
The Jewish fellow responded, "When's payday?"
The bum said, "I don't know! You're the one that's working!"

Why do Jewish divorces cost so much?
They're worth it.

Why do Jewish men die before their wives?
They want to.

There is a big controversy on the Jewish view of when life begins.
In Jewish tradition, the fetus is not considered viable until it graduates from medical school.

Q: Why don't Jewish mothers drink?
A: Alcohol interferes with their suffering.

A man called his mother in Florida, "Mom, how are you?"
"Not too good, " said the mother. "I've been very weak."
The son said, "Why are you so weak?"
She said, "Because I haven't eaten in 38 days."
The son said, "That's terrible! Why haven't you eaten in 38 days?"
"Because I don't want my mouth to be full of food if you should call."

A Jewish boy comes home from school and tells his mother he has a part in the play.
She asks, "What part is it?
The boy says, "I play the part of the Jewish husband."
The mother scowls and says, "Go back and tell the teacher you want a speaking part."

Q: How many Jewish mothers does it take to change a light bulb?
A: (Sigh) "Don't bother. I'll sit in the dark. I don't want to be a nuisance to anybody."

Summary of every Jewish holiday: They tried to kill us, we won, let's eat.

Comment

Demography website has a note on Yemen, a "country" that is going to the dogs. Aslak, the owner of the site noted that many (maybe most) of the commenters are Israelis.

It is most interesting that we Israelis (I mean Israeli Jews) occupy such a large place in internet debates, specially on intellectual type of sites. It reminds me of the phony anecdote of the Himalaya sherpa asking an Israeli trekker: How many Israelis are? 5 million? It cannot be true. I personally know of 20 million that already climbed this mountain.

Randy (a very likeable, cultured Englishman) writes that he thinks that religious people in Israel is living a life separate from that to more secular Jews. But Israel is such a small and densely populated and intense and hot (33 Celsius this morning in Kever Benjamin) place that you cannot isolate yourself. You see each other, you smell each other, you cannot but hear them, you have them in your soup looking at you. Enjoy.

On Brainsway: I Was Wrong

Two years ago my internet friend Nomad called my attention to Brainsway Ltd. (TASE:BRIN). The company had one product - a kind of magnet that was said to produce electrical changes deep in the brain, curing depression. It seemed to me like a repeat of Mesmer and its followers, another shiny but phony medical electronic instrument. But I was wrong: Today the company announced success in the clinical trial of its Deep TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) for the treatment of depression. Brainsway's share rose 12.3% by early afternoon to NIS 13.90. (pic: CEO).

56 patients participated in the trial, which was conducted at Hadassah Medical Organization in Jerusalem and Beer Yaakov Mental Health Center. The final results of the safety and effectiveness study found that of the 22 of the 45 patients who completed at least ten treatments showed statistically significant improvement and 13 patients achieved full recovery. One patient had a brief epileptic episode during treatment, while some patients reported slight headaches, mostly during the first treatments. Brainsway said that the results mean that Deep TMS is a safe and effective treatment for depression.

Brainsway is simultaneously conducting a number of trials of Deep TMS on a number of neurological disorders. Earlier this week, the Veterans Administration Medical Center of Los Angeles announced that it will try to treat attention deficit disorder (ADD) with Deep TMS. In June, the Ministry of Health approved a trial of the system to helping chronic lung disease patients quit smoking. In April, the US National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) announced that it conduct an effectiveness of Deep TMS for the treatment of cocaine addiction. In February, the Veterans Administration Pittsburgh Medical Center announced a trial of the system for the treatment of obesity. Charite University Hospital in Berlin will test the device for the treatment of multiple sclerosis. In June, the Ministry of Health approved a trial of the system to helping chronic lung disease patients quit smoking.

If this thing works even a little and it is safe, doctors and clinics will run to buy the new shiny electronic machine to install them in their offices. The business potential is enormous.

This note on how I missed earning a lot of money is against future overconfidence. I can be very wrong. Still, regarding BRIN, I have not made up my mind.

HaAretz: Tel Aviv Belongs to the Arabs

HaAretz is the leftwing anti-Jewish Hebrew newpaper favorite of Ashkenazi middle class. For some reason (we suscribe) it appears each morning before my door and I am forced to read it. It never ceases to astonish me. Today, under Biderman's cartoon, we have an article by one Gideon Levy. He appears to be a Law Professor at the University of Tel Aviv, and he describes his beautiful home near the campus and his morning walks to the University's swimming pool. That is the most exclusive and expensive neighborhood of Israel, Ramat Aviv Gimel. He reflects: "I see around me and smell the sweet aroma of the Arab plantations of Jaffa oranges that existed in the fields where stands my house. This is a Palestinian village of 2,230 persons. The village was surrounded by soldiers during the 1948 war, its inhabitants terrorized and forcefully evacuated. There, in a refugee camp, lives the family of the Palestinian peasant on whose land I walk. Would the Israeli legal system be a system of justice and not the instrument of the racist apartheid regime that it is, this campus and neighborhood would return to its legal owners, the inhabitants of the Sheikh Munis village. May be we have to thank the Israeli legal system for its decisions, he writes, by its decisions we see its real face. There are judges in Jerusalem, and they say: Apartheid. Land property only for the Jews." All this is my free translation of Prof. Gideon Levy's article in the main page of the HaAretz newpaper, August 6th, 2009.

What can I say? Is this man crazy? No, he is not, because many - may be most - of the high class Ramat Aviv Gimel inhabitants think like him. They demonstrate against the Army when they want to erect a fence defending an outlying Jewish neighborhood in Jerusalem, they spend their weekends doing volunteer work rebuilding the Arab houses destroyed by the police, they write elaborate presentations to The Hague International Court of Justice demanding sanctions on Israeli institutions, they travel to England and organize the academic boycott of the University of Tel Aviv they work for.

What can I say? Is this man crazy? No, he is fighting those in power, the head of the academic department he is member of, he is seeking to destroy them and to acquire power for himself. He feels that Israel and the University is so strong that his destructive action poses no real danger to them. He is sure that writing that his house belongs to others will not cause damage to himself: there is no chance that he will be thrown out of his home, lose his life savings and transported with his children to a refugee camp in Gaza, as he suggests that JUSTICE in capital letters (not the racist justice of Jerusalem High Court) would require.

What can I say? That let Guideon Levy write in HaAretz. He does not mean what he writes, he is a phony liberal like all of them. For all the noise and controversy they create, I have yet to see a liberal to give up his home and move to Gaza. I have yet to see one red, collectivist, liberal kibbutz to give up one centimeter of Palestinian land. The Palestinians see him for what he is, a phony Jewish Israeli fighting against his bosses in the Israeli organisation he works for. They have experience with this human sludge: they let them make noise, they show them around and use them, they ejaculate in their rosy white assholes and when they are through with them, they throw them to the dogs with one word: "Jew!".
