This morning I had a job in a factory at the Har Hotzvim Industrial Area, in Jerusalem, near the Haredi (pious) neighborhoods of Kyriat Sanz and Kyriat Belz. Very modern, like the new industrial areas being built in China. The factories are not the "diabolical mills" of 19th Century England, but I saw people working like ants in badly lighted underground halls, under an unholy mess of water, sewage, gas, electricity etc. piping and conduits. Everything connected ad hoc in the high, leaking. The pic shows one of the pretentious buildings, our architects are dreaming up impressive facades but oblivious to infrastructure.

Close, but no cigar. Per the poems of William Blake from whence the term arose, they were "satanic mills," not "diabolical mills."
Thanks. You should have seen those basement factory floors with the sewage dripping on the the pious Jews assembling electronic components.
Do you mean the mechanical systems of these buildings are substandard, or do you mean the infrastructure of Israel is substandard?
Israeli infrastructure is very good. What I think that is happening is that we are living next to a population with lower or no standards. Most people go to the Palestinian areas for standard auto repairs, plumbing, dental work, etc. They do the work for half of money but the quality is much lower.
I can see letting a Palestinian work on my property, but not my teeth or body.
Dental work is prohibitively expensive in Israel and is not covered by health insurance. Many would allow them to work on their teeth or bodies, but NEVER on their cars.
My mother allowed herself to be assigned to an Arab female dentist here in AZ, and the woman did horrible work on her teeth. A later dentist had to fix the work that Arabic woman did.
Considering that the average Arab has an IQ of 85, the average college graduate there probably has an IQ of 105 at best. And I can only assume that the average college graduate there has an IQ if their higher education system is honest and doesn't take in prospective candidates due to bribery.
Incidentally, I do my own auto repair work. And I have to go to bed.
Averages are quite meaningless in real life. Your Mother may have had bad luck with that specific Arab dentist. Anyone can learn to do standard dental work, it is more a question of dexterity and experience than IQ.
About auto repair work, Palestinian mechanics work in tandem with car thieves and buy original spares parts very cheap. They "order" difficult spares and they get it delivered in 24 hours. You cannot do that.
Not quite. My 30-year old Nissan needed an alternator and the clerk at Autozone walked back and retrieved it right there. So for most cars that are less than 15 years old parts are available the same day. Local mechanics order parts from a company called Carquest that will deliver the part to the shop the same day like a pizza. Fenders, doors and body panels are another matter, I don't know where the mechanics order those from.
The Palestinians parts suppliers are probably cheaper than Autozone though.
