AVATAR: Pervert Sex or Imperial Decadence

AVATAR was commented also on the Chinese internet. No Chinese gave a second thought to the sexual meaning of the story, they all understood it as a parable of American decline and defeat. Example:
The Na’vi only drove away the English speaking human beings. After one or two decades, there must be another wave of intruders. This time, they will be Chinese speaking, which is in accordance with the current pace of development of different nations. What should the Na’vi do then?

The ChiComs are fools and they know nobody likes them. They may think that this is their time in the sun, with their dominance of manufacturing. Even the keyboard I'm typing on is made in China, so there may be some basis for their cockiness. Even so their advantage can turn on a dime, they shouldn't extrapolate present conditions too far ahead. My 486 computer which conked out in 1992 had no visible part made in China, everything was made in Malaysia and Taiwan. Such conditions can easily return.

My point was the abysmal difference in the mental attitude. The Chinese are saw the film in terms of power, as a 18th century English colonial administrator. They have no emphaty nor mercy for the bizarre blue striped tree monkeys.

They unashamedly support their own team.

Do not expect anything else from them, except civility, which they will accord foreigners.

Anon.

The USA is currently in decline, but it is nowehere near defeated yet.

The West has at leats another 100-250 good years in her at least.

There will be revoltions and governmental regime change in the USA sometime within the next decade to 15 years - the USA will probably split up in to around 5-7 separate nations, each with its own economic, social, and racial policies.

The Chinese are not as strong as you think.

The Communist regime is unstable because of the wobbly world economy. The Chinese government has to create literally HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of jobs for Chinese people every month - if they do not they will probably be toppled in less than 2 years or so.

Also, China is not food secure; they import tons of grain and some other foodstuffs from the USA, Russia, Australia, and other countries just to feed their population. They send us a bunch of cheap plastic junk and flimsy electronics, and we send them food so they can stay alive...now who has the better end of the deal?

The water situation of the eastern half of China is very bad because of too much population and heavy industry. China's population overall is far too large.

The environment of eastern and coastal urban China is very very bad, worse than anything most in The West can imagine. This is not good for the future, they are 'soiling their own nests' as we say in the USA.

There will probably be a mass population die-off within the next few decades in China, or else a huge war where China tries to take over territories of other nations for expansion, probably Mongolia or large parts of eastern Siberia (Russia).

China is one of the very large countries of the world, not much smaller than America. It has no need of more land. I disagree about China collapsing. China has been a very stable country and has historic continuity of thousands of years. The generation that suffered hunger and civil strife under Mao is still alive, and they are ferociously decided to maintain stability and social harmony.
