Furuike ya
kawazu tobikomu
mizu no oto
Fu-ru (old) i-ke (pond) ya,
ka-wa-zu (frog) to-bi-ko-mu (jumping into)
mi-zu (water) no o-to (sound)
The old pond;
A frog jumps in –
The sound of water.
This is the most famous haiku (by Basho). Here is another by Shiki:
余命いくばくかある夜短し
yomei
ikubakuka aru
yo mijikashi
My remaining days
are numbered
a brief night
Shiki says we should not give any deep interpretation to haiku, it is simply a feeling. This one was written a moment ago, contemplating the wet streets after the rain:
Angry client
Wants to build.
Finish that plan!
Morning will be dry.
J writing haiku.
The Plan!

Does this say something about the Asian mind?
A-non.
I dont think so, since haiku is very popular also in the West.
The same with sushi. People likes it.
Your weather is very similar to ours here in Mesa. We have just received even more rain, and it has been raining on and off since I got home from work this morning.
Say it in haiku.
