IQ is not an illusion. What is an illusion is that anyone, even so called "experts" has the ability to predict the future with any more certainty than random guesses, whether it is the outcome of a football game or the stock market. There is a strong demand for future prediction because it has high value (you can make a lot of $ and be successful if you know the future). The Temple priests used to cast lots. The Roman priests used augury (observing the direction in which birds flew). In their time, these were believed just as much as stock market analysts with their "charts" and had about the same predictive power. No one knows the future, except HaShem and He isn't telling you.
