Argentine military and political elite is murmuring about the country having been taken over by the Jews. The bloody antisemites always maintained that the Jews were ruling the country, since the 1906 novel "La Bolsa" (when Argentine Jews were pennyless refugees from the Tzarist Empire), but now they may have really something to fear from the Jews.
The turning point was in 1994, when a car full of high explosives destroyed AMIA, the building of the Jewish community, killing 85 people. The police destroyed evidence and mismanaged the investigation is such an incompetent criollo manner that soon it became known that the President himself, Carlos Menem (1988 - 1999) and his brother Munir Menem were actively working in the cover up.
For sixteen years the Jewish community doggedly pushed ahead the investigation and slowly all the local participants have been identified and put in jail. Only the Iranians have escaped and are enjoying the lives of heroes in Teheran. But the Jewish community has organized itself and has been worked methodically now for sixteen years and dozens of police and military officers were implicated in the ciminal act and sentenced. Now they have reached the head of the pyramide, the sanguinary head of SIDE (the secret police), the brother and factotum of the President, and the President himself. Soon they will all be sentenced and sent to the Ushuaia penitenciary in Tierra del Fuego.
In the long fight for justice, the organized Jewish community has acquired an enormous influence and much political power in Argentina. It is a small community, of 250 - 300,000 people, in a country of nearly 40 million, but they have an impact in Argentina like the Jewish community in the USA.
If not for the dynamiting of AMIA in 1994, Argentina today could be like Chavez's Venezuela, a country allied to Iran and violently anti-American and anti-Israel, with a frightened Jewish community. Instead, Argentina is strongly pro-Israel, with a power and revenge seeking Jewish community inside. Say thanks to the Ayatollahs.

What was the motive for the coverup? Was it that they wanted to avoid embarrassment once they had botched the initial investigation?
Argentina in general is a sad story - at the turn of the 20th century a place that was seen as equally promising as the US, but at some point they took a wrong turn and have never fully rejoined the ranks of 1st class nations (and probably never will, now that Asia is ascendant). I suppose it was their bad luck to be colonized by the royalist Spanish and not the British with their democratic traditions - the most successful former colonies are all ex-British. Spanish speaking places (like the Russians) alternate between the rule of strong men and utter chaos.

President carlos Menem was motivated by only one thing: MONEY.
The investigation of the explosion immediately involved the Ambassy of Iran in Buenos Aires, and the Iranians paid 10,000,000 dollars to Menem to cover them and let them escape the country. Possibly they paid more, I suspect.
Menem is an Argentine politician (although he was born in Syria as a Muslim) and he was indifferent to Jews, who were always politically passive and powerless in Argentina.
Till the Ayatollahs electrified them.
J - please delete the above anti-Semitic rant. It literally sickens my stomach to see this kind of blood libel after all that we have been thru. This blog is your home - I would not tolerate someone talking like that to me in my home.

Wow - it is even worse than I imagined - like something from a thriller movie but true - the state is rotten to the core, the corruption extends from top to bottom. At first no one believes the evidence - the crooks are confident that they control all the levers of power and can quash any action against them. And it works for a long time. But eventually justice prevails.
Given this reality, the above post is even more laughable (a bitter dark kind of laughter) - Menem accepts a $10M bribe from the Iranians but the Jews are the plutocrats? Anti-semitism is all about projection - you project all your society's faults and all your personal faults onto the scapegoat.
J, thank you for removing that dreck.
7PM post was mine also.

Done.
However, as antisemitic accusations go, this was new to me. Everybody knows that all Argentine governments, including the current one, were fully occupied in sacking the country. Jews were never in the government in Argentina and there was never a Jewish plutocracy in Argentina, where the main source of wealth is the ownership of land. But, as the 1994 attack to the AMIA shows, if they keep attacking us, the situation may change. Fear is a great motivator.
Anti-semitism is divorced from reality. The Poles kept their anti-Semitism up even after there were no Jews left in the country.

and now they are missing them.
Of course they are missing them. All of Europe has never been the same since they killed or expelled most of the Jews. Before WWII, Europe was at the cutting edge of science, art, music, etc. After the war, the avant garde shifted to the US (and now increasingly to Asia). Vienna is a like a cross between a museum and a nursing home - all the vitality is gone. Without that frisson of manic Jewish energy the place is a snooze.

J and K, from (google Menem wiki) ... on Dec. 29, 1990 CE, Menem pardoned Videla, Massera, and other junta leaders. Why did he pardon them?
Ostensibly on grounds of "national reconciliation". This pardon was recently overturned by the Argentine courts on the grounds that crimes against humanity are not subject to pardon. Given what we now know about Menem, it cannot be excluded that the pardon was bought and paid for, either with direct cash bribe or a promise by the military not to overthrow Menem or both.
It is difficult for Americans to comprehend the Alice in Wonderland rules that apply in places with no strong constitutional or judicial system and a tradition of to the victor the spoils - laws are what the strong man of the moment says they are, parliaments are rubber stamps, the opposition's views are completely ignored and denigrated, etc. Putin or Chavez could explain it to you, but they won't. I'm afraid that we're about to learn the hard way, at least for a little while, but the American constitution is very resilient.

J and K, google "man found in seven pieces and face sewn onto soccer ball" ... in the past 3 years 15,000 people have been killed in the drug cartel violence in Mexico. In the 1930s Al Capone was called "the unofficial mayor of Chicago." If it can happen in Chicago, why couldn't gangsters take over all the USA with a shadow government? It is seems to me that the American family and the American economy are gradually deteriorating — could the US eventually have violent anarchy with a sham democracy controlled by gangsters?
Doggytwit - I think you have answered your own question, unfortunately. Whatever man can imagine can happen, if not worse. Who could have imagined Buchenwald in the Weimar of Goethe and Schiller? Do all that you can so that your worst nightmare does not come true.

"All of Europe has never been the same since they killed or expelled most of the Jews."
Germany seems to have done well economically since then, no?
Maybe economically (the myth of Jewish control of the German economy was always that - largely a myth, and besides that, crime does pay - many of the postwar German fortunes were founded on stolen Jewish property) but, for example, before the war, if you were interested in studying Physics, you had to be able to read and speak German and go to Göttingen. After the war, it was no longer Göttingen - it was CalTech or Berkeley. All the journals are in English now and German students come here. This was in no small part due to the loss of the Jews.
K
True, perhaps, of physics, but in other fields (e.g., chemistry and mechanical engineering) it still pays to know German. Though of course one of Germany's greatest chemists (Haber) was born a Jew.
Maybe to access some of the older works? I'll bet you 90% of the chemist working worldwide today don't know a word of German anymore.
Here is the list of the most important chemistry journals:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_scientific_journals_in_chemistry
Note that they are ALL in English. The prominent German chemical journal Angewandte Chemie has published both in German and in English (same content) since 1962. Since the fall of the Soviet Union, even many Russian journals are published in both Russian and English. The only way for a scientific article to get any worldwide notice is to publish it in English. Fluency in English today is a prerequisite for almost every scientists on earth and the starting point for that was the expulsion of the Jewish academics by Germany in 1933.
K
In many disciplines, learning a foreign language is a requirement of obtaining a Ph.D. in the U.S. It's not uncommon for chemistry Ph.D. candidates, for example, to study German. The increased adoption of English in Germany is partly due to global reach of German industry today: English enables a German executive to speak with his Japanese or American colleagues.
Argentina...another victim of the Jewish Mafia -- http://www.toqonline.com/2010/03/the-jewish-mafia/
K,
Your description of Vienna 2010 confirms my own impression. I arrived in Vienna one Sunday and the city was empty and dead. We walked in the Ringstrasse - the buildings are there but the spirit is gone. I returned to Vienna after fifty years, everything is there, but where are the Austrians?
