Dont take it easy

I now fasting for the five days and feeling well. I was brought to this Russian Rasputin-like Acupuncture Doctor by my dear wife, and apparently I am following a water fasting therapy for losing weight (I am fat). Yesterday the doctor said that he will stop the beta blockers I am taking. I am googling the issue and found that what I am doing is called water-only fasting deviced by Dr. Alan Goldhamer and his colleagues at the Center for Conservative Therapy. (Pic: Gandhi in one his famous fasts).

It is notable (to me) that the everyday advise of "take it easy" or its Hebrew version אל תיקח ללב is nonsense. Relaxation and meditation does nothing to reduce blood pressure. People assume that "hypertension" means high levels of stress. This is not the case. High blood pressure is an essentially mechanical, and not psychological, problem.

I strongly suggest that you consult with an [Israeli trained] cardiologist before stopping your beta blockers. Ask him about the fast diet also. Losing weight will not improve your health if, God forbid, you have a heart attack in the process. I do not trust Russian "medical" training. They have among the worst life expectancy in the world. I am seriously concerned for your health now that you have put yourself in the hands of a quack.

This should be "J's hunger strike enters sixth day!!!"

You should get back to eating protein and some calories and essential fatty acids very soon.

Is somebody checking your BP?

Anon.

Thanks Anon for your interest. I am starting to eat 200 gr boiled fish every night. I am checking my BP three times a day and it is all right.

Russian doctors have many strange ideas, like balneotherapy, but they are good. Health in Russia is not (only) the function of the level of its health professionals, which, BTW, have mostly emigrated. I think a large percentage of Russian medical doctors were Jewish, and many are here and in America. Russia and Ukraine is suffering without its Jewish doctors.
