I was wondering what the Gate is.
The Japanese say it is the mid-point between two close black hole event horizons; their gravitational pulls would linearly accelerate the astronauts spacecraft, to achieve near-speed-of-light velocity.
Another theory describes the Tannhauser Gate as a fault in the space-time continuum where two, normally-distant points in space touch. The Gates can be opened with a modulated stream of anti-matter.

It is actually the entrance to the next universe.
Thomas Cook is very interested in exploring this market.

"Next"? You mean that universes are standing in a qeue like Englishmen waiting for the autobus?
Yes. Very quietly, and well ordered.
But slightly out of line, not like Germans.
In the multiverse reality, these serial universes are believed to be stacked really close to one another - a mere millimetre or two - and every now and again (say, about every 20 billion years) they bang into one another with disturbing consequences.
The other interesting fact, and apropos of nothing, is that, rarely and by chance, complex objects will materialize out of the void, in local violations of the Laws of Thermodynamics. Included in the list of possible objects, whose occasional existence is rare but mandated, are complete and all-sentient disembodied brains, called "Boltzmann brains", which briefly contemplate everything before snuffing out.
Koko is one of these; she is just waiting for the right moment to tell you.

I knew that absolute nothing oscillates and suddenly may pop out a positive something and its twin pair of negative something. Then they pop back and melt again into absolutely nothing.
Sometimes something fails and a little bit of assymetry happens, and lo! you have a Big Bang and an universe.
Koko may be an universe (כל אדם הוא העולם כולו - each person is an universe) but how do you explain her success in predicting winners in horse races and the stock exchange?
Koko is not a universe; she is an all knowing "Boltzmann brain". She has seen the future, which gives you an important edge in the market.

The question is if Koko has got a good memory. She may have forgotten the future and have only a confused memory of which stock goes up and which down. I can always rely on her predictions of where to buy the best bananas for her, but unfortunately she was not much interested in the stock exchange and cannot tell me much about its future.
In addition to Boltzmann brains, the universe is full of floating Boltzman chickens. We had one for dinner yesterday. My married daughter cooked it.
I trust it disappeared very quickly.

Anon,
Yes, the chicken disappeared in no time. As somebody observed, modern science and magic are undistinguishable. My daughter cooking a chicken was an act of magic.
