Nor do they care what kind of shmattes orthodox women wear either. Business is business and the money spent by religious fanatics is as good as any other.
The question is, why are there suddenly all these relgious fanatics covering themselves? Is it a reaction to the excesses of the secular, who go about nearly naked on the beach, etc.? It was not only Communists who once believed religion was a fading force and people would recognize the supremacy of science over superstition, but there was something about the modern world that caused people to choke and reject it in favor of that old time religion. This only gets worse over time as the religious groups have higher reproductive rates and most children follow the customs of their parents. It looks like the future belongs to the frum, which does not hearten me - there are no wars worse than religious wars.
The problem with modernity is that there are always those who push it to extremes that are revolting to ordinary family-oriented people.
This is one of the strongest forces supporting militant Islamic recruiters in the West, and elsewhere.
"Europe is the cancer, Islam is the answer".
With all the pornography, state-facilitated teenage alcohol abuse, abortions, divorce, low fecundity and open propagation of homosexual excess, it is not very difficult to understand why even normal young men and women might find their message attractive.
I am not a prude, but it is obvious we are playing into the hands of religious extremists.
It's a tough line to draw - how do you show TOLERANCE for "alternative lifestyles" that you may not approve of but should be the choice of other individuals to make in a free society while at the same the making clear that you are not PROMOTING these same activities or putting them on an equal moral plane with preferred family oriented lifestyles? While at the same time the left pressures your society to not only tolerate the different but to glorify them? So far the firewalls (don't ask, don't tell, civil union vs. marriage) don't seem to be holding and the race to the bottom continues.
I think the cardinal error is to assume that we HAVE to live in a totally "free society", and it's corollary that anybody, anything has to be tolerated.
This is itself a type of religion, in fact a suicidal one, and as something that is inherently self-limiting, will not endure for much longer.
This it self might be a cause for celebration, until one realizes what the elite has lined up for us, that will surely take it's place.
The bizarre black dress favored by religious fanatics is a rejection of the "free society". They dont want to be free, they dont want colorful dresses, they hate the mini. I used to call Muslim girls "nuns" because they dress as Catholic nuns of Argentina.
These women are not as distant as they seem... they are modestly dressed and their hair hidden just as Catholic nuns once were or as our great grandmothers in their sheitls were. They are well within the Judeo-Christian tradition which eschewed Hellenistic nudity. It is we who have changed and become neo-pagans, elevating the body and athletics and running about nearly naked.

No one cares
Then why do they do it?
I mean, the Jewish population cares little how ugly Arab women are dresed.
I doubt most Arabs care how these women dress either.
This is not the same woman as in the "little black dress" pic above.
Charlie told me that before he died.

'Nun' of this and 'nun' of that.

Two nuns are cycling down a cobbled street.
The first one says "I've never come this way before."
The second one replies "Must be the cobbles"
