The whole Carmel forest is on fire. There are already 43 dead, mostly Prison Service elite unit members and high police officers. They were en route to fight a prison riot in a prison on the Carmel mountain. Apparently, the fire started near Ussafiya Arab settlement. Some are saying that it was intentional and a terror attack. We had no rain for the last eight months, so the whole country is dry and susceptible to fire.

What prison riot? They were going to evacuate the prisoners.
I know for sure of only one bus full of elite guards followed by high police officers. Where were the empty buses to evacuate the prisioners?
The fact is that we dont really know. It is also difficult to establish if the fire was intentional.
J- the fire had 3 or 4 different starting points. This is not the first time that Arabs have started forest fires (in Carmel, as well as around Jerusalem) - and are unlikely to face any real consequences. Law and order is nowhere to be found in Israel, especially when it comes to this fifth column.
Apart from that, forest fires (natural or not) occur with sufficient frequency in Israel to ask why Israeli firefighters are so sorely under-equipped. News reports say that Israel has already run out of chemical fire retardant - and has appealed for more from other countries. The substandard state of the firefighting capacity is criminal.
They were warden cadets, not exactly elite
Horrific. My condolences. The fire was likely arson, especially if it is true that it started in 3 places at once. But I would not assume that Arabs did it without further proof. It only makes you look bad in the unlikely event you are proven wrong later.
Sending men into a raging fire is criminally negligent. There must be an investigation and whoever send these men to their death must be held responsible. The US has very extensive experience with wildfire and there are protocols on who you send where.

The fire started at one place, near a trash heap.
It eventually spread to three epicentres.
Waste heaps spontaneously catch fire.
The lack of fire retardant confirms my idea that there is place in Israel for a PRIVATE for profit fire service, like in California.
Upon further reflection, fire is a lousy terrorist weapon - there are Arab villages in the area - the fire does not distinguish between Jews and Arabs. It's still possible, maybe even likely, it was arson by Arabs but again I'd prefer to wait for evidence. When I was in Greece a couple of years ago they had similar fires (from our friends house in Athens you could see the slopes of the mountains to the north glowing red at night like the embers of a giant barbecue or what hell must look like) which were arson but not by Arabs. There are nutjobs everywhere.

Sure they are. The dry wood could have been burnt by anything and anyone. We are used to suspect terror and arson.
According to the Jerusalem Post, "Commander Roni Attias said that the fire was caused by the negligence of a family in the Carmel area. He said they are currently busy investigating, but "know what the incident was."
Police said they were close to identifying the family. Channel 10 reported that it was suspected that the fire started from a nargilla water-pipe."
In other words, just plain old Arab stupidity and not arson or terrorism.
This stupidity was compounded a millionfold when a bus full of precious lives was sent into a fire zone.

No terrorism - a 14 yr old Druze boy smoking a hookah, that's all.
