In sixty years, Israel has succeeded in changing the position of the Jews in the world. We are not really being persecuted anywhere. The Catholic Church, our main enemy for centuries, is positively friendly towards us. It is not easy for us to aknowledge this new reality. And for a change, Christians are persecuted all over the world, and are leaving their homes in the hundreds of thousands in search of physical safety.
Ugly pogroms were reported in Egypt, Pakistan and Iraq already this year. The most incredible case, in my view, is Asia Bibi, a Christian woman in Pakistan that was sentenced to death for blasphemy. What is blasphemy? A crime against Political Correctness, I would say. Pic: Stoning of a Christian in Somalia.

Playing the devil's advocate here, I have to point out that a) it is unclear to me how the existence of Israel PREVENTS the persecution of Jews living elsewhere (providing a safe haven is another matter, and b) stoning as a punishment for apostasy (more accurately, incitement of others to worship idols) was originally a Jewish concept.
The creation of Israel caused most of the Jews in the Muslim world to be expelled, most of whom moved to Israel. Muslims can't persecute Jews who aren't there.
Well, they finally found an Israeli mass murderer of Muslims http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4015290,00.html
B,
The example of Jews defending themselves had a tremendous impact on Galuth Jews as well as on gentile peoples around them.
Moreover, I can tell my personal experience. When I was studying in Argentina, Nazi groups like Tacuara used to bother Jews. Zionist movement organized patrols and so.
Western 'intellectuals' do not care sixpence about Christians or Christianity, which is why this sort of atrocity can go on, unimpeded.
No Western government would raise a finger to avenge this woman.
I agree with J.
Anon.
I bet martyrdom will revitalize the Church.
Probably in the Third World and the USA, but the secularists in Canada and Europe are now beyond irretrievably lost to religion.
(But not to magical thinking, as is very obvious from their political and economic views).

Thank you Israeli friend for realizing that we will always be on your side...
God bless you.
The Catholic Church will always be there for every human being persecuted, whether he/she is an Israeli, a Palestinian, Jews or Muslims, or non-believers.
yes, the Church condemns such violence and intolerance.
