Will Mubarak crack down on the protesters, and if not, why not? Like I said, I'm no expert on Egyptian politics, but it seems that he's painted himself in a corner by being an "ally" of the US. It looks like he knows better, but the US has been quietly undermining him, and now Barry is publically telling Mubarek not to do what it would take to save his regime. Egypt receives over a billion dollars in foreign aid from the US annually, so he's not in a position to tell Obama to fuck off.I couldnt have said it clearer. For us living in the Jewish ethnostate, this is chilling,
The next regime would be wise not to fall into this trap. The US will end up betraying any US allies in the region, because they can't live up to our democratist standards. If they did, they wouldn't be our allies, because those people hate us and wouldn't honestly elect a government that favored us. The lesson here is to always be in a position to disrespect the President of the US. Hugo Chavez or Kim Jong-il wouldn't have to care what the US thought of them if they had to repress a revolution.
Our other allies in the region will get the same treatment someday, and it looks likely that someday will come soon. Israel is no exception, because the concept of a Jewish ethnostate is even more in opposition to our egalitarian standards than an autocracy like Mubarek's.

But Israel IS already a democracy and its people love America so the situation is different than in Arab countries.

I don't see why we subsidize the growth of Arab populations with foreign aid when they hate us so deeply. It would be better for America if we just cut off their aid and let their populations drop to a more sustainable level.
Israeli is not a ethnostate.
"Israeli is not a ethnostate."
The whole argument is semantic, but one could argue that Ashkenazim, Sephardim, Mizrahim don't rise to the level of separate ethnicities given that all three groups share a common ancestral Jewish component. Certainly that is how white nationalists in the U.S. and Europe view the issue. For them, the only ethnicity that counts is Jewish.
Israel's declared purpose is to be the homeland of the Jewish people. In that sense, of intentions, we are an ethnostate. In reality we are a mixed bunch of separate peoples from all over the world, some as the Ethiopian Falashas, definitely relatively recent converts.
