I was reading about the life of Ibn Saud and the Ikhwan, which is the basis of the Saudi Arabian National Guard. Ikhwan is translated as Brotherhood, but I think it is the Arabic equivalent of the Hebrew Akhwah (אחווה) which is the favorite word of Rav Kahana to describe the Jewish love and care for each other. The Ikhwan almost toppled the Saudi dynasty in the twenties because of its links to Egypt, which was considered a country of unbelievers. Pic.: an Ikhwan dance.

I wonder what difference would that have made? The Wahabis are every bit as evil in bringing death on unbelievers. Personally I think the Ikhwanites were jealous of Ibn Saud who selflessly bedded a different woman every night.
Ivan, Ibn Saud devoutly followed Muslim rules and had an exemplary domestic life. As a Muslim, you are encouraged to have as many wives as you can maintain. Many of these marriages have no sexual element but it is way to help and socialize widows and old maids. Islam is a very strict in this issues. We can disapprove its agressive intolerance, but on the basis of knowledge.
Ibn Saud had a few hundred concubines. He would not have been able acquire them simply by being an Islamic holy man. Viewed from the angle of Darwinian struggle, Islam is the perfect vehicle for anyone who wants to spread his seed far and wide. This must be the only religion where its possible to obtain a divorce via SMS.
The problem with Islam is its prohibition of alcohol.
Also, the Quran is very difficult to make sense of. It is not a religion for people who wants to understand what is written in the Holy Book or what Mohammed said.
It is also the wrong religion for people with back problems, all that hitting the floor with one's head.
