The "Burgeois en voyages d'affaires et la femme de chambre nymphomane " is a cliche of French risqué burlesque dramas of the bedroom farce variety. Une jeunne cochonne qui va se faire enculer, est une "light role playing game", nothing serious, but you cannot expect those salauds to appreciate French food or French culture! Excuse my French!

Release him.
He is too important to be arrested.
Diplomatic immunity to the rescue?
Paris estime que DSK n’a pas d’immunité diplomatique
http://elysee.blog.lemonde.fr/2011/05/15/quelle-immunite-diplomatique-pour-dsk-lelysee-et-le-quai-dorsay-planchent-sur-le-dossier/
I think the IMF chief has something of a diplomatic immunity. Let see if the French demand it.
DSK is trying to replace the US $ with a fiat world currency.
This is the much more serious indiscretion.
I say keep him in the slammer a bit longer, til he converts to sound money.
Anon.

In this case immunity law open to multiple interpretations.
Kahn's lawyers will be well paid regardless.
Strauss-Kahn's Case for Diplomatic Immunity
http://www.theatlanticwire.com/business/2011/05/imf-replaces-strauss-kahn-john-lipsky/37742/
Brian Glow at Reuters suggests that Strauss-Kahn could still try to leverage his status as a quasi-diplomat by applying the Vienna Conventions on Diplomatic Relations, which grant broad immunity from prosecution to diplomats serving in foreign countries. While this law does not immunize a diplomat from actions "outside his official function," it can be interpreted pretty broadly. For example:
[O]n April 26, U.S. District Judge James Boasberg in Washington threw out a case alleging that Lebanese Ambassador Antoine Chedid and his wife underpaid and verbally abused their maid. His decision relied, in part, on a State Department filing in a separate case, which found that hiring household workers for assistance during diplomatic service is covered by the Vienna Convention's immunity provisions.
Strauss-Kahn will NOT receive diplomatic immunity. There is no way that raping the hotel maid is part of his official function, no matter how expensive his lawyers are. The maid is not the fantasy figure in the pictures but a (probably not very sexy) woman from Ghana. Strauss-Kahn must be the kind of guy who will screw any female he can get his hands on. While this may fly in France (not really) in the US he is now in very serious trouble . He may join his buddy Katsav in jail.

If he really chased naked the maid in the corridor, he is finished, because of the hotel cameras have filmed the action. Anyway, he is in serious trouble. BTW, the hotel lobby is full of prostitutes, he could have one for less trouble.
He'd probably just ordered up a prostitute from room service, and mistook the maid for one.
I'm sure there is a perfectly innocent explanation for the whole fiasco.
Anon.
When they say he chased her down the hall, it was not the public hallway but the hall of his luxury multi-room suite. Our socialist royalty cannot stay in a mere hotel room, they must have a giant suite. Hypocrite doesn't even begin to touch the correct name for these entitled bastards who rule in the name of the people.
DSK knew he had messed up - he ran to the airport so quickly that he left his cell phone in the room. Had the plane taken off he would have been free - France would never have sent him back. Already his friends are saying that this was some kind of conspiracy. Maybe Sarkozy sent the maid to clean the room.

If judging according to Katzav rape trial, DSK is finished. Now many other frustrated girls will start crawling out of the woodwork and accuse him of sexual violence. The man has been sexually active more than half a decade, and has accumulated many female enemies. Now that he is down, they will appear by the dozen and enjoy his torture. In fact, the world will enjoy the lurid details of the stories that will be published everywhere. Suicide would be his best choice at this point of his life.
Now it is confirmed that the victim is a 32 year old African immigrant. I am starting to doubt the whole violently forced oral sex accusation. But DSK's life is ruined.
