The Eloi

"I would prefer to live in a society where police normally work unarmed," said Johannes Knutsson, a professor at the Norwegian Police University. "It is a very forceful and symbolic sign to the citizens that this is a peaceful society."

There you have it. The perfect example of an Eloi mentality. The abstraction, "symbolic sign to the citizens that this is a peaceful society," trumps reality. This kind of magical thinking believes that by manipulating symbols, one creates reality. They will sacrifice their children to worship at the alter of liberalism.
The quote is by Zarkov in Lawrence Auster blog. I think the insight is very intelligent. According to the Wiki, the Eloi are the child-like, frail group, living a banal life of ease on the surface of the earth, while the Morlocks live underground, tending machinery and providing food, clothing and infrastructure for the Eloi. The Morlock feed on the Eloi. Each species evolved from humans. From the film version:
Del mar'jen'wel. Tor'col orn. Em'quin, en'bal. Quin'tor Morlocks. Em'quin, Alexander wen'quin. Breen'tan? Tor Morlocks. En'em bal.(It was just a dream. Don't worry, I'm here, you're safe. There are no Morlocks. I'm here, Alexander's here. You see? No Morlocks. We are safe)

The idea of an Eloi SWPL overclass and Morlock NAM underclass was first brought up to describe today's society by Moldbug.

What a small world we have! If you look closely you will see that the quote is actually a posting at Auster's blog site, View From the Right. A posting by one Alexis Zarkov.

Another example of social networks and the Small World. See Chapter 2 in Small Worlds by Duncan Watts.

Norway is a very small country (4 million) richly endowed with natural resources and beautiful women. Its wealth and isolation seems to have produced a population that lacks guile and worldliness. Why would such a country open its doors to Muslim immigration? Why bring in a population almost guaranteed not to assimilate? The socialists are already in power. They don't need hordes of needy people from the Third World to get political power-- they already have it. The Norwegians fear Muslim violence and as such try to placate them turning Norway into the most politically correct nation in Europe. Placating the Muslims means they have to be anti Israel. They don't fear Jews, so they are expendable. And they don't fear their own Nordics. Now what will they do?

BTW many historians believe all those beautiful arose from the Vikings kidnapping the best looking women in Europe and bringing them home. What happened to all those aggressive Viking men who plundered Europe in the Eighth Century? Is Breivik a revival of that personality type?

It appears that Norwegians have lost the natural capacity for outrage, anger and initiative after years of socialism. Now I am certain that Norwegian police has crack shots who could have taken Breivik down from a helicopter, but they were stymied by the bureaucratic procedures involved. As the master de Tocqueville wrote:

What good does it do me, after all, if an ever-watchful authority keeps an eye out to ensure that my pleasures will be tranquil and races ahead of me to ward off all danger, sparing me the need even to think about such things, if that authority, even as it removes the smallest thorns from my path, is also absolute master of my liberty and my life; if it monopolizes vitality and existence to such a degree that when it languishes, everything around it must also languish; when it sleeps, everything must also sleep; and when it dies, everything must also perish?

Zarkov, I overlooked that it was a quote. It is a very intelligent insight. You must be something.
