Turkey was rejected by the European Union and as usual, the Jews get trashed. Turkey suspended its former alliance with Israel but in an amazingly short time, we have created an alternative network of friends and allies who are historically hostile to Turkey: Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Armenia, Georgia. Maybe the loss of Turkey is a blessing. For a people that had no foreign policy for two thousand years, we are learning fast. The Arabs made the mistake of fighting us with arms, so we mastered all things military and are now the third largest exporter of weapons. The Turks are making us experts in international politics - how will it end?

Isn't Israel also forging an alliance with India as well? The Hindus and the Muslims have been at each others throats for a very long time, so I think a Hindu-Jewish alliance would be a natural.
Israel needs a diversified portfolio of alliances because it can no longer fully trust the U.S. The left in the U.S. hates Israel. In has taken the place of South Africa in their hateful little minds. You don't need a better example than Berkeley, both town and campus. The saga of Bus #19 and Suzanne DeWitt provides a perfect illustration. Suzanne (I have spoken personally with her) was even opposed by her own rabbi! My own daughter once attended a Reform service in Berkeley only to hear the rabbi give a pro Palestinian sermon. I'm not making this up. I wish I were. She told me: "I wanted to throw rocks at him."
American and European left hates Israel. We ar now their favorite hate object, worse than the apartheid ever was. On the other hand, there are almost no physical armed attacks on Israel, which is rather unnerving. It was never so peaceful in Israel.

Michelle Bachman believes that God will curse America if America falters in defending Israel. If I were an Israeli Jew, I think I would find that almost as creepy as the leftist hate.

You want creepy, I'll show you creepy. On French TV Obama said that the U.S. is "... one of the largest Muslim countries in the world." You can listen for yourself here. The CIA World FactBook lists the U.S. with a 0.6% Muslim population for a total population of 1.8 million. Either this man needs a lesson in geography, or his thinking is severely delusional. Perhaps he simply misspoke, or was playing some kind of diplomatic game. In any case, I find his extremely tolerant and fawning attitude towards Islam extremely "creepy." Has he no familiarity with the Koran? Bachmann's comment does indeed seem strange to a secular mind, but that should hardly upset the Jews of Israel.
The Jews face an implacable enemy in Islam. An enemy fully as bad as if not worse than National Socialism. The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem (1921-1948), Hj Amin al-Husseini encouraged his followers to "... kill Jews wherever you find them."
Al-Husseini recruited Muslims for the Waffen SS, but the Allies never punished him after the war. The PLO venerated him. Currently Mein Kampf is the sixth best seller among Palestinian Arabs.
Perhaps Obama is just ignorant of history, geography, demographics, arithmetic and the Koran. Affirmative Action can take you a long way in the U.S. All the way to the White House. Now that's creepy.

I realize some right wing chaps love Israel in so much as it plays a role in the christian narrative rather than due realpolitik. Bear in mind this narrative involves Jews converting to Christianity and Armageddon and return of god if am not wrong. Such is irrational and easily jaded
Obama is playing for the other side. This should be obvious to anyone who is not hopelessly stupid or willfully blind. However, Obama is more the symptom then the cause, unfortunately. A nation that is so brain dead as to vote for this man is sadly in a deep state of terminal decline.

Some very intelligent people I know voted for Obama, including one friend from Eastern Europe who fled Communism.
Obama's base: Blacks 95%, Hispanics 66%, Jews 78%, young women (18-45) 60%, people with graduate degrees 66%. His worst demographic: white men 37%. As immigration from the Third World continues along with their high fertility, the left will gain a permanent lock on power. In Mexico the PRP stayed in power for 70 years with Obama's winning formula. Is it any wonder that Obama wants comprehensive immigration reform, aka amnesty. The amazing part: most Republicans support more Third World immigration. The very demographic that will lead to their permanent demise. Talk about brain dead.
Obama somehow exerts an almost hypnotic influence over many people who should know better. All that being said, the magic is coming off, and we have at least even odds of voting him out of office in 2012.
The problem is, Anon, that Obama was screwed in from right to left, but he is left handed and will not come unscrewed. Expansion screws, doggy style, are not easily removed.
