Israeli Greens Against Solar Energy
It was to be expected. Israel has 360 days of sunshine and has subsidized heavily solar panel installations to generate electricty. We embraced Green Energy but now the very same Greens who pushed us in this direction are warning us that solar panels are an ecological disaster.
The panels reflect solar irradiation and confuses migrating birds about the correct position of the sun and the stars, so they lose their way.
And they are fatal for bats. These mammals fly at night near water surfaces, hunting water insects. Confused by the reflecting surface of the panels, they bump against the glass and get killed by the thousands.

This does not come as a surprise. The "greens" really only like energy systems that don't work very well, or will prove uneconomic. Their real enemy is industry itself, not just the unpleasant byproducts. Being "green" is simply a form dementia.
They even dislike the most traditional form of energy, which is burning wood. Greenness is a form of being "against". I wonder how they achieved such power.
They achieved power by a dogged pursuit of their goals, and a little help from some wealthy individuals. As Michael Creighton pointed out, Environmentalism resembles a religious movement. So you might ask how Islam or Christianity achieved such power?
There is another and more sinister possibility: deliberate subversion of the West. The Soviet Union waged a cold war on the U.S. and Europe, and only about 20% of their budget involved spying. A good way to weaken an adversary is make energy more expensive so his industrial system is less efficient.
Cheap energy means industrial strength. The Chinese know this, and they build one new coal-fired power plant per week. Coal is the cheapest feedstock and they have lots of it. They also produce 97% of the world's rare earths. Rare earth mining and smelting causes a great deal of pollution.
They achieved that power by inheriting it from their socialist predecessors, who inherited it from their radical Protestant predecessors, going all the way back to the Massachussetts Bay Colony and to Cromwell before that.
