Muslim countries in the Persian Gulf and North Africa are funnelling large sums of money to radical Islamic groups in towns and cities across Spain in a competing effort to exert control over the estimated 1.5 million Muslims in the country.
A newly leaked secret report prepared by Spain's National Intelligence Center (CNI), excerpts of which were published by the Madrid-based El País newspaper on July 31, says the Spanish government is struggling to stop the flow of tens of millions of dollars to Islamic groups in Spain from Kuwait, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and above all Saudi Arabia.
The CNI report states: "The financing is having negative consequences for [multicultural] coexistence in Spain, such as the emergence of parallel societies and ghettos, Islamic courts and police that operate outside of Spanish jurisprudence, removing girls from schools, forced marriages, etc."
It continues: "There is insufficient control of financial flows involving grants and aid from other countries that are being funnelled to the Islamic community in Spain. For the most part donors are using alternative channels to ensure that their donations escape the control of the regular Spanish financial system. Donors should be made fully aware of the risks associated with such financing."
According to El País, two high-level officials from the Spanish Ministries of Justice and Foreign Affairs travelled to the Persian Gulf in June seeking cooperation from Kuwait, Oman and the United Arab Emirates. In May, the Spanish Justice Ministry summoned the ambassadors of several Gulf Arab states to a meeting in Madrid in which Spanish officials requested their cooperation in bringing order to the financing of Islam in Spain.

zarkov01, between price controls and a supposedly free-market for housing there is a range of options to be explored, expecially for a small, land scarce like Israel. I live in Singapore which is even more constrained than Israel when it comes to land, but most of us have our own homes due to the availability of public housing. How are a young couple supposed to start a family when the a decent home, can take upto 30 years to close the mortgage?

Israel too had some serious inflation in the 1970s and 1980s hitting as much as 500% per year. They tried everything, wage and price controls indexing etc. The ultimate fix was curbing the money printing done to cover deficit spending. These kids are too young to remember all that.
Inflation is a wonderful way to tax for the government. The merchant takes the heat instead of the politician.
Ivan. I don't know the specifics about housing in Israel. I can only say that rent control does not work very well. It causes shortages and the deterioration of housing stock.

Do these protesters think Russian Communism worked? Under Communism the Russian people had about the worst housing in the western world. Multiple families in one room. Shortages of everything except propaganda.

Young men almost always go to these things in the hopes of getting laid. Later on I discovered that the best looking girls are on the right. A movement that attacks ugly women can't be any good.

It seems that for American Jews, the rightward drift ends somewhere between hardcore socialism and the moderate part of the Democratic party. The center of that distribution is made up of left-wing Democrats. If that's nature's course, they end up still terrible, just not as bad as their youthful socialist or communist selves. This is one of my primary sources of alienation from the Jewish people. And no, religion is no answer for me. I can't stand that either.
As an American Jew I must concur with the assertion that the far left and it's shrill constituency has a very large Jewish component. That doesn't go unrecognized. And it rankles.

One of her friends was interviews as a spokerperson of the protesters and spoke about the high cost of living, social justice, the usual things. But she is from a very rich family, the father has factories in China. My daughter saw no contradiction or dissonance at all. That's why I say that this is not serious.

Depends what you mean by "best."
Nice girls from good families have been the scourge of America and Europe. They are the rank-and-file of the antiracist movement, emotive social-welfare movements, and in America, the anti-Israel movement also. (Yale is much more anti-Israel than Directional State; Yalies are also wealthier on average.)
I don't mean to blame them for following bad leaders, only to point out that they carry a taint and are likely to make bad family and political decisions. Perhaps the Israeli ones confine their foolishness to macro-political questions and remain sane on smaller, more immediate ones. If so, lucky for Israel.

Holding contradictory thoughts does not necessarily make one not serious. Fredrick Engles, the co-author of The Communist Manifesto, was also a factory owner. Was he not "serious."
Cathy Wilkerson, and Kathy Boudin were both daughters of upper middle class parents. Wilkerson, a member of the Weather Underground, accidentally blew up her father's Greenwich Village townhouse in 1970 while trying to construct a nail bomb to be used against the soldiers at Fort Dix New Jersey. Boudin, the daughter of a Communist Jewish family, was a co-conspirator. They both drew prison sentences and were certainly "serious."
Of course merely attending a Communist rally in one's youth is almost always harmless and merely a sign of youthful naivete and enthusiasm for people they perceive as "underdogs." In all likelihood this phase will pass.
I was worried as to what might happen to my daughter growing up around liberals and Communists and attending elite schools that subjected her to a continuous barrage of anti-American, anti-white, anti-Israel, and anti-male propaganda. I need not have worried as she was always a conservative. I was either lucky or did my job. I was careful to watch her courses and challenge the propaganda. The brain washing attempts did not get bad until college, but by then it was too late-- she was immune.
I say all this because I'm concerned for the future. The left is poisoning the minds of our children and this must stop. Israel of all places cannot afford to tolerate this self-hating insanity.

The Left Wing has now flooded Europe with millions of Muslim immigrants, as a deliberate and coldly calculated move.
The Left Wing pretends to be pro everyone (unless they are white) and does not advertise its anti-Semitism.
But if you think these immigrants are all raving supporters of Israel and enthusiastically pro-Jewish, then someone will have to take you aside and quietly disabuse you.
It is not the Right that has made Europe into an increasingly strident enemy of Israel, with large, expanding no-go areas for Jews.
It is your friends on the Left.

My question answered. According to CNBC News, here is what the demonstrators want:
* Increase personal tax brackets for top earners
* Enshrine the right to housing in the law; introduce rent controls; boost mortgage relief
* Stop further privatization of things such as health facilities
* Provide free education for all from the age of three months
* Raise the minimum wage to 50 percent of the average wage.
Now has anyone calculated the cost of satisfying these demands? Where will the funds come from? Evidently from extra taxes on the rich. So who are the rich, and what would be the necessary tax rise?
Conservatives need to stop being cowards and confront the left. Make them answer the above questions? Numbers. The left hates numbers because then you have to get specific, and their demands fall apart as unrealizable.
