I had a bad feeling

The early morning omens were frightening. Clearly, this was going to be an unlucky day. Everybody should have stayed in the bed and waited the shade of evil to pass away. But they ventured out without kissing the mezuzah and now the krach is unstoppable. Even Credit Suisse is down.

We are doing construction and I took a mezuzah down (because the door was being removed). Maybe this is causing problems. Tomorrow the contractor is supposed to put the door back (in a different place) and I can rehang the mezuzah - maybe the world problems will stop then.

The Orthodox are always worried that their mezuzahs are not kosher and this is why they are having problems in life. There is a joke about this - a not very religious Jew's daughter falls in love with a religious Jew. They marry and prosper and have many children and are happy. Two Orthodox Jews are discussing the situation and how it is that someone who is not particularly worthy had such mazel. One says to the other - maybe his mezuzah was kosher?

You see? One day without mezuzah and now we have a recession... :-(

Almighty God is angry with humanity.

But angry over what?

Angry over assuming too much debt. Over our living above our means.

And pretending we can live at a Western standard of living while running the West for the benefit of non-Western people.

Anon.

You should have hedged before this happened. There's nothing so peaceful as being hedged when the market drops like it did Thursday. It's like being inside your pleasant, dry house when there's a heavy thunderstorm outside.
