"Supporting Lybian Reconstruction"

By now it should be clear to all that Lybia was attacked by colonial powers France and Britain with the goal of exploiting the place's natural resources (sweet oil). And it is no secret:
French Foreign Minister Alain Juppé said he thought it would only be reasonable if French companies benefited from preferential access to Libyan contracts given that Paris, together with the U.K., led the foreign military offensive in Libya. "The NTC has said very publicly that, in the reconstruction effort, it would give preferential treatment to those who supported them," Mr. Juppé told French radio RTL. "That seems quite logical and fair."
Reconstruction? What reconstruction?

Another question is where are Europe's leftist, anti-imperialist forces?

PR execution so slick even the left felt good helping the masses. I think Europe leapt into action when they realized the Yankees would have pocketed Libya lock stock and barrel.

Nothing is taken more seriously than energy less so human rights the west now has most of MENA's resources under proxy control which is what matters

I think it was started by the Europeans, the USA did little bombing.

No, the US once again did the heavy lifting, for example, in those few months 20% of all Tomahawks ever fired went into Lybia!

"The Navy has fired off more than $121,400,000 worth of cruise missiles with the 200-plus TLAM strikes."

While France was dropping dropping concrete from the sky, go figure.

But i agree on the starting, the states just went along, they themself had good relations, the CIA even had a permanent base of operation there.

Concrete bombs! Stones falling from the sky! One never stops learning.

I think that since Armand Hammer most oil concessions in Lybia were owned by American companies. Ghaddafi had good relations with the USA. It is difficult to understand why they chased him his tent, maybe it is part of a big strategy of crating chaos and unstability.

I think American foreign policy in the Middle East is now controlled and directed by the Brotherhood, even from within Washington, and their ambitions involve accruing an enormous amount of oil wealth which is not to be had in Egypt.

What they will do with the $$$$ I leave to your fertile imaginations.

The UK and France, only recently sucking up to Ghaddafi, realised the game was up and simply re-positioned themselves to be on the winning side.

This is the "morality" of the "International Community".

Lockerby didn't figure at all.

After all, who actually cares about white people being blown out of the sky?

Its pathetic that just when Gaddafi tried to behave like a human being, the West drove him into the desert.

I have to take back what I said about Gadaffi turning over a new leaf. It appears that he threathened to ignite the Middle East and burn the feet of the British Empire etc to secure Megrabi's release. Tony Blair, that man who could never get anything right once again had a starring role.
