Occupy Gwen Lane

The Stock Exchange in Gwen Lane in Sandton is about to stormed by Malema's Youth March in Johannesburg. Malema says that parlamentary democracy is nothing without economic democracy. He told supporters that journalists should not be harmed as they were not the enemy. "You must know who is the enemy."

It is very hot in Johannesburg, many people marching is fainting.

"Economic democracy" has worked out wonderfully for Zimbabwe. I've seen this movie before. On the other hand, guys like Mugabe, Khadaffi, etc. are among the richest men on earth, so it works for them. What's amazing to me is that the "you have nothing to lose but your chains" line still works on the masses - haven't they figured out that as bad as things are now, they CAN (and will) get worse for them if they kill the goose that lays the golden eggs? How many examples are needed before people generalize the concept?

These people will not generalize the concept.

But they will conceptualize the General.

This Malema is making a nuisance of himself for Zuma. He must be very ill. I give him two months to live.

Yes, probably the MSM will announce soon that he has developed a very serious illness.

There will then be a national holiday, "Malema Day"; as a token of their profound sorrow, the Mining Houses will tithe the ANC Youth League in perpetuity.

Finally, (ie next year) the Chinese will take over everything, except rugby.

He could also be used as the fool who voices the real feelings of a significant fraction of the ANC elite. That's what I'd do from their revanchist PoV. If any diplomat starts whining you say; 'well, of course, we don't support this.. we're the rainbow nation'

They might also just keep him around to remind the Afrikaners that the black majority, nor its elite, have not forgotten about apartheid. It may give them some satisfaction to scare the people who held them down for so long so easily.

The only thing of value the Afrikaners have left is their land.

After that, in order to steal anything really worthwhile, they will have to deal with the City, and Wall Street.

Addendum: "they" of course not referring to the Afrikaners.

Farms. That is what Malema wants.

Yes, but it's not enough. You can't get rich by turning well-run farms into subsistence agriculture; see Zimbabwe, eg.

In order to get really rich, what Malema, etc have to do is steal the output from the mines in such a way that the people who actually extract the gold, diamonds, coal etc are persuaded to stay and continue to work, and also in a way that does not anger the legal owners, ie the "International Community".

Neither of these things are remotely possible. But that will not stop them trying, and this is why Malema and friends will themselves have to be stopped.

It is very sad.

We are all praying for his miraculous recovery.

Many South Africans have blisters on their knees.
