Goal: To Drink like a Chinaman

Chechs drink the most, followed by Russians (red). I belong in the 4 to 5 liter per year category (palid green). I knew I could not hold my own against the Argentines (one bottle of red wine per meal) but never realized that even those (faux) abstemious Chinese drink more. I'll have to do more.

In Beijing, the local firewater, Red Star Er Guo Tou , is sold for a few pennies in a 100ml bottle. I gather that this is the "personal size" for daily use - at the end of the work day you drink one of these. Every day. So in the course of a year you'd drink more than 12 liters. I don't know if they mean proof alcohol - Red Star is something like 56% (and tastes awful to a Western taste - like paint thinner). People would tell me things like "my grandmother drinks a (100ml) bottle every day and she's 90."

100 ml X 365 days = 36.5 liter

56% alcohol content = about 20 liter alcohol intake per year.

That grandmother gets 500 kcalories per day from her habit so it is an important energy source for her.
