An Example of Whitening
Dienekes Pontikos writes about Bahamas population: "The higher frequency of M269 derived individuals in the Long Island population (55.8%), when compared with the other five Bahamian islands surveyed (ranging from 8.5% to 18.3%), suggests higher gene flow from European males (Saunders, 2003b). According to the 1851 census, Long Island possessed one of the smallest European components (13.1%) yet, by 1953, almost 50% of this population was of ‘‘mixed’’ ancestry (Craton, 1998)." I think something similar happened in Brasil.

I just heard a program on the radio where a Black male professor was advocating (strangely) that American Black women should seek out husbands of other races, since Black men are proven to be such lousy fathers. There are a couple of flaws with his idea:
1. Women usually prefer high testosterone (black) alphas to beta (white) males. One popular female strategy since the dawn of time has been to screw around with the former and hook one of the latter to be a "good provider". In the case of interracial screwing around, it becomes pretty obvious to latter that he is not the baby's father.
2. Most white men are not attracted to black women, esp. the average 300 lb. American black woman. I visit a supermarket with a mostly black clientele and believe me, my eye does not wander to the female shoppers. The whole idea that white men were raping their slave girls left and right is just not true. In modern times, while a large proportion of reported rapes are black men raping white women, white on black rape is virtually unheard of. The most famous case of alleged white on black rape (involving the Duke University lacrosse team) turned out to be a false report by the black woman (but it ignited a media frenzy because it fit the desired liberal storyline so well that the facts were "too good to check".

It might, unless the white "provider" was actually blind, be difficult to conceal the true paternity.

The "whitening" was not being done by middle-aged Jewish Ph.D.s but White prole teenagers. Average teenager thinks of sex every ten second, meaning he has no brain time left for other considerations.
The whole idea that white men were raping their slave girls left and right is just not true.
It might have been true once. People change.
Anyway, we're talking about Brazil here, not the US (although I do wonder if there's any evidence of a very slow whitening process of African-Americans).
If anything, interracial relationships were even more frowned upon during the slavery period in the US - if there has been change it has been in the other direction.
In general, what happened in the US during the slavery period was that there were two more or less distinct populations of slaves, the house slaves and the field hands. The house slaves were more civilized and familiar with how to behave among white people. After a few generations, they were for the most part mulatto and more attractive to white masters. Before the days of food stamps, they were not all as fat as sows. In some cases this whitening process went so far that their descendants were actually able to cross the "color line" and pass as white - this is what happened to the Hemmings descendants (who were probably Jefferson's offspring). The field negroes remained largely black.

Lighter colored Africans and mulattoes are considered more attractive among the Africans themselves, so the whitening process takes place even if there is no sexual contact between the two communities.
And there is much contact, especially among the young.
