Kever Benjamin Mysteries

The local paper reports the mysterious apparition of a stone angel on Dr. Brodiansky's grave in the old cemetery. The good doctor died 63 years ago and her two sons visit her grave every year or two. The angel had not been there a year ago. There are no stone or otherwise angels in Orthodox Jewish cemeteries. Who set the statue on the long-dead doctor's grave? Why? A deep mystery!

Russian (Jews too) like to put portraits of the deceased on gravestones. There now exists technology for engraving photo images into granite. In the (Jewish) cemetary where my parents lie there are many such portraits - very creepy.

Yes, you see those in Israel too. A heathen practice which makes non-immigrants shake their heads in disapproval.

The new cemetery has a non-Jewish section where you see those granite pictures and plaster angels too. Muslim cemeteries are more austere.
