Workmanship

Every two to five years the water meter has to be replaced and calibrated. It will be rather difficult here.

Nothing that a jackhammer can't fix.

I had forgotten how tropical Israel is - this time of year here, all foliage is frozen and dead. All the European religions made a big deal of the winter solstice (today Christmas) because it signaled that the sun was being re-kindled and was not just going to die out like a fading fire, but in Israel it must have passed unremarked because everything remained alive.

Today it was a sunny hot day, had to work in T shirt. We know nothing about the Sun dying - we celebrate the miracle of the Maccabeans energy-saving olive-oil lamps that never go out.

About the jackhammer: water meters are delicate mechanisms - too delicate as I wrote in my expert testimony in the class action against the Jerusalem water company. The lawyer says we are going to be famous and rich.
