This is the part I don't get. In ancient times Jews were the reigning sexual prudes. Its a constant trope of the sun-worshippers that Judeo-Christianity brought sexual repression. Pederastry and homosexuality were for the Greeks. Maybe next year you should apologise for the Maccabees.
Ivan, more than strict patriarchy or tolerance for perverts, what seems to characterise Jews is our absolutism or extremism. Last year there stone throwing battles in Jerusalem were against the International Gay Parade, that the religious demanded should be prohibited (they lost, the Jerusalem gay parade is an exhibition of cross dressing and nudity - Sodoma and Gomorrah). This year the secular people protests against the separation of genders, because in Jerusalem there are buses for her and buses for him, and in mixed buses women are politely required to sit modestly behind.
