Barhano Taganiya, a leader of the Ethiopian Jewish community in Israel: "If we are not strong, they will trample us underfoot".
Boker Tov, Eliahu. (Meaning: Now you wake up, Eliahu? Where have you been during the last 20 years? I knew that after spending one week in this country.)

OT: A men's rights victory in Israel.
He will pay dearly for it.
Who will?
Ethiopians are not as smart a you, so what takes you one week takes them 20 years.
My father's brother who made Aliyah realized this also, so he wrote to his other brothers and told them to move to America instead. American do not live in fear of being considered freyers.

That's because Americans are freyers. ;)
I am sure your relatives in Israel were not trampled underfoot but they did some trampling themselves.
My uncle in Israel achieved a modest success. He had no children (that survived the Nazis) and I think that limited his ambitions somewhat. It's really a pity (on many levels) that he had no children - if I still had relatives in Israel I think I would visit more.

I have available three sheyne maydeles for adoption (preferibly by young, ambitious single American Jews). No nedunya offered nor demanded.
I have an eligible son and am not adverse to a shiddach. I won't hold it against your family that your are Ungar'n and not Galicianers. However children nowadays are so modern and want to make their own matches.
K
Wasn't Ungarn sort of in the Galitz orbit?
Our mispoche definitely came into Hungary in the mid 19th century from the north west. Isnt Bohemia considered elegant enough?
I can look up my yucchess and send pics of some long bearded antecessors. But it may be counterproductive, ha ha.

As long as your daughters don't have long beards...
K
But your granchildren will ...
No, they won't
I really do despair of the "moderate" alternative - maybe (G-d willing) my grandchildren will be Jewish and yet not sport long beards but in the long run I'm afraid J is right - at least in the Diaspora, those Jews who do not hew to observance will melt into the melting pot(and therefore not be Jews at all) and Jews will consist mainly of the frum (and given their birthrate, maybe more Jews than there are now). If this doesn't happen in one generation, it will in 2 or 3 or 4 - if you have a 50%+ intermarriage rate, it doesn't take many generations before "pure bloods" are rarer than hen's teeth.

Better that they should abandon Judaism, K, than end up condemned to life as a haredi.
My mother in law contacted all her relatives in Russia and arrived to an aged Yiddish writer (in the Soviet Union) whose son emigrated to California and was something big in the tech industry. Now retired, he contacted all surviving branches of the family and wrote 100 page long clan-book with pics and short stories - in English.
Interestingly, there were no mixed marriages under the Soviets, but now the young generation in the USA has brought a Jamaican negro and an Irish boy into the family.
The in laws of the Jamaican are more than happy with him, because the daughter was nearing forty.
My wife's extended family holds a Seder every year. One of the 2nd cousins is now married to a genuine African woman - she is a rich brown, the color of dark chocolate. Our American Negros are interbred and rarely achieve such lustrous brownness.

The Luo are blueish black. Ethiopians are light brown, not really Africans. They are probably Homo gracilis remnants.
