The world is scandalized by the pic of American marines urinating on the bodies of dead Taliban enemies. Let the impotent hypochrites lament, cry, condemn.
Well Done, Marines! You were sending a message. Hear their cries and understand that your message has been delivered. We shit on our enemies's corpses.

I think the picture is misunderstood. Perhaps the corpse was smoldering and the soldiers wanted to put out the fire and had no other water at hand. I know that if the situation were reserved, the Taliban would treat American dead with utmost respect.
The Geneva Conventions were adopted with the concept of mutuality in mind - in exchange for good treatment of enemy prisoners, the other side would also treat their prisoners equally well. If there is no expectation of mutuality (in fact the opposite) then the Conventions are no longer a hard headed rational calculation but another air-fairy do good scheme put forth by people safe in their arm chairs.

I don't blame the Americans for pissing on the corpses. The Talibans grossly mutilate the US dead unfortunate enough to fall into their hands. This is nothing; it might even teach the Taliban to treat the dead with some respect. Being Muslims they need their bodies intact for their resurrection. Infidel piss might put a cramp on it.

Muslims do not resurrect, or do they? The Quran is unclear on that issue. If pissed by dogs or Christians, will they be admitted into Paradise? I'll ask the holy muezzin with the loudspeaker who calls me to prayer at 0400 AM.
