In other words there is virtually no overlap between the two populations. In a cognitive sense, you have two different species. How can they function in a modern technological society? That's a good point, but I see some difference. The Iraqi Jews were under existential threat from the Arabs because they were Jews. On the other hand, the Ethiopian Jews were caught up in the general conditions of a civil war. I don't think they were a targeted group, but I could be misinformed on this. One could also reasonably argue that Jews in danger from whatever source or whatever reason are Jews in danger, and Israel should provide them with compassionate help.
It seems to me that the Ethiopians have some bad habits that might make them unassimilable. Moreover, I see that estimates of Ethiopian IQ go as low as 63. Let's assume that you need at least a 100 IQ to function in the Israeli army. Let's also assume that about a quarter of the 120,000 Ethiopians are men in the appropriate age interval. That gives us a total of 66. Not too many.

One way would be to offer eugenic -oops - reproductive advice to them, ie provide them with the donor sperm of very high IQ Jews, and perhaps incentivise them to go this route.

Dr Zarkov, your calculation is correct but the actual number of Ethiop soldiers is hiagher because:
(1) You dont need to have IQ 100 to be a fighter in the Golani Brigade. In my opinion, IQ 80 will do if you are healthy and have a friendly nature. Ethiopians are good comrades at arms.
(2) Israeli army service lasts 3.5 years so one may find at any time a minimum of 231 Ethiops in the army.
(3) In addition, you may find another 264 female soldiers (66 X 2 X 2) The last multiplier is because females are in all races steadier and of better character than men.
(3) If you have these 500 colorful people serving near urban centers, you may get the visual impression that about one in ten Israeli soldier is an Ethiopian.

I've read here for 2 years, and haven't seen what AD claims regarding J's position. Does that narrative really give you so much gratification?

J's position is that declining population is bad for a country. Since in the U.S. context, the currently largest population block,the white population, isn't keeping up its numbers, something else has to happen to keep up the numbers. J doesn't advocate flooding the U.S. with non-white immigrants because they are non-white. He advocates accepting essentially any immigrants who will make up for the otherwise potential population decline.
In the Israeli context, this focus on population makes more sense. They can't let the proximate Arabs outnumber them too greatly if at all. In the U.S., population decline would create problems with funding social programs (which importing low-potential immigrants doesn't really solve btw), but quality of life in other areas might improve (traffic, home prices, college admissions, etc.).

I don't believe after reading that, that you could ever be made to understand that Euro Americans think of themselves as a people (at least many of us) 'White Americans' we're generally called. We were something like 85-90% of this country well into the 1970s. Today we are barely hanging on to a majority and will soon be merely a plurality.

AD is right. The time for "moderation and reason" on immigration was in the 80's and 90's. Nothing less than extremism is required now.
The West needs a complete halt on all immigration, followed by the implementation of a long term demographic strategy for each country.
Generally speaking, the laissez-faire approach towards demographics has been a complete disaster in modern times. I agree with J - I know many Mexicans and (while they surely have good and bad among them like any people) for the most part they are hard working and here to feed their families. Sailer has blogged about studies to the effect that the Hispanics have not been assimilating to white American standards of education and income. Whether the true explanation for this is cultural, genetic, or some mixture of both, is still open. His practical concern is that an increasing Hispanic percentage of the population represents a permanent net draw on social welfare resources as well as a reliable voting block for left-leaning politicians.
As for jobs Americans won't do, who did those jobs for over 100 years before illegal Mexican immigration took off? A mixture of legal immigrants (mostly of European origin) and native-born Americans. Of course, ordinary people handled their own lawn-care, housecleaning and child care back then.
The issue is not the Mexicans in particular. Again, a post-Malthusian world, with collapsing birthrates in most sectors of the population, demands a radically more regulated approach to demographics. The math is clouded out of visibility by the urge to be acting from "nice" intentions, i.e. Inclusive intentions. Difference between Left and Right's choices is largely that between being concerned with what someone's intentions are vs what the results are. All political discussions are about what is the "right" things to do, the way sharing toys in a kindergarten is "right." "Results" are not on the menu and it is so vulgar of me to suggest to them that they focus on them, process them. Crazy, I know. How can these people be such delusional children? I don't know. But all around I see maximization of uncritical "Good Intentions."
Too much of a good thing definitely becomes bad. This was the impulse for which the West relinquished all empire mid 20th century. The Euro powers acted on such "ethical grounds" because self-determination is what's "right," (which has some truth), without considering if the RESULTS of sudden abdication are going to be so beautiful after all for those who live there. I think they were trying to remedy centuries of having been "not nice," feeling the teacher within's scold perhaps. Violating this is so taboo that people just turn their eyes away from conflicting information and consequences in protection of it.

The blogger at EconFuture has put out many articles during the past year elucidating possibility that automation technology will reduce jobs for both the working class and middle class in the (relatively near) future. Without employment, what are all of these babies that you think we need going to do in 30 years other than suck up welfare or foment violent revolutions.
