I googled orangeman to understand your meaning, and learned about William III of Orange (Willem III van Oranje). According to the wiki, he had only one concubine (his legal wife did not count), so his twisted-minded English subdits called him a homosexual.
I am sorry for my ignorance. Wikipedia led me to the historical Oranje dynasty and not to Irish protestants. It has nothing to do with sex of any kind.

When I was a child, I was told that my great-grandfather was an Orangeman; now at last I know what was meant.

The Orangemen are still very active in Northern Ireland, and I don't think it has all that much to do with homosexuality.
