In the Neighborhood

History insists in happening. Our closest neighbours are undergoing a silent demographic and political earthquake. From the 5 million people who escaped Iraq, about one million refugees are living in Jordan (half of them registered) unsettling the older Palestinian and Bedouin population. The King has changed Prime Ministers three times and some say he lacks the tribal charisma of his late father. In Syria, having learnt the lesson in Lybia, Europeans are staying out, allowing Assad Jr to reduce the rebellion. Egypt is in turmoil, barely governed.

Egypt is an American "achievement".

Obama's little gift to Israel.

Enjoy.

It is a gift that the Egyptian people is also enjoying. I wonder if Obama could visit Egypt today and deliver a speech as he did last year.

No.

The teleprompter would not be working.

Before the teleprompter there was the prompter, the person with the script open before him so he can whisper lines to forgetful actors.

I see what you did there.

It's not necessarily so. The Army may prevail.

Why would Obama oust Mubarak in favor of the Army?

Translation:

Caesar had some jam for tea.
Brutus ate a rat.
Caesar sick in a bus.
Brutus sick in hat.
