Justice

Judge Al-Sheykh (pic) has rewritten (falsified) a protocol so that it appears that a lawyer she hates had done something improper, and she submitted it with a complain to the Ethics Committee of Israeli's Attorney Association. She was trying "to get" him for some personal reason but The trick backfired, and now she is being investigated by the Chief Justice Gorlick. Is this typical of how the Israeli justice works? I dont know nut sure it is difficult to maintain Western standards in the Middle East with Middle Eastern people.

If found guilty, she should receive the full measure of the law. This will send a message.

More and more of this sort thing is happening now, because the perpetrators are emboldened by the delusional belief system of Political Correctness which offers them a shield.

A bit of pushback is required.

Off Topic - winning the future:

74% of all Jewish children in NYC are haredi, according to NYT

That will be a disaster, K. When the haredim become the "face of Jewry" for American gentiles, there will be even less friendly coexistence than there is now. Look at the situation in Postville, Iowa as described in the book by Stephen Bloom:

Postville: A Clash of Cultures in Heartland America

Another interesting factoid from the article:

"About 12 percent of all Jewish households in the eight counties included one person who was nonwhite — mixed race, Hispanic, black or Asian — usually as a result of adoption or intermarriage."

I hope the lion's share of those nonwhites are Asians. Otherwise, it tells me that liberal Jews are drinking the cultural Marxist Kool-Aid.

That is what the religious Jews have been saying all the time: The Emancipation kills more Jews than Hitler. We need religion.

Anonymous said...

No, J, the domiance of the hasidim and haredim will be the end of all that makes the Jews special. Their charming ways with the gentiles may just be the necessary spark for pogroms or, dare I write it, another Holocaust.

J said...

Without the religious, there will be NO special nor charming Jews.

Anonymous said...

There won't be many, if any, among the religious either, J.

They will come to Israel.

By then, Israel will be a black country.

Then, we Africanized Jews will be opressed by the cruel Arab slave owners and loved by Europeans and American Whites.

No, they will be the pure Ashkenazi gene bank for future charming and special Jews. All the charming and special Jews that you know or have ever heard of - their fathers or grandfathers or a generation or 2 more were all bearded and sidelocked. Meanwhile the (few) children of the charming and special Jews of today won't be Jewish for the most part so there won't be any more charming and special Jews coming out of that group anyway.

I realize this is not how it should have turned out in the best of all possible worlds - I'd rather chat with a witty Jewish college professor than some smelly bearded Rebbe who lives in his own world. But you have to take what life gives you. The Jewish college professor is an atheist and he married a goy and his 1 or 2 children (maybe girls adopted from China) celebrate Christmas, so there won't be more like him in the future. Literally end of story.

Well, that's what anonymous is hoping for.

In my personal experience, I have yet to meet a smelly Rebbe-maybe some of the guys who stand in the sun on the corner trying to get you to put on tefillin. As for living in his own world, we all live in our own world, including the urbane college professor. At least the rebbe might (depending on his movement) be routinely exposed to worldviews drastically differing from his own, which lends a certain sophistication. The professor? Unlikely.

Only if there is another haskalah, K. That could take a thousand years, and it might not ever occur again given that the most extreme of the haredim/hasidim have nearly perfected walling off their young from the secular world and limiting their options outside of the community by limiting secular education. Haredi/hasid dominance of the Jewish community will also do much to push secular Jews and even moderately religious Jews away from Judaism. I know that I am an extreme case, but there are plenty of Reform, Reconstructionist, Conservative and even Modern Orthodox Jews who feel attached to Judaism but draw the line at following haredi/hasidic dictates.

J said...

People is unaware how dramatically demography works. Each generation of Reform Jews is about 70% smaller than the former one (my estimate: 1.2 children per female, 50% intermarriage and loss of Jewish identity). A generation is about 25 - 35 years.

On the other hand, Orthodox Jews grow about 1% - 2% p.a. Make your estimate.

In Poland, there were many Jews who couldn't even speak Polish. 85% listed Yiddish as their 1st language. Many had no education other than cheder. Hasidim in America are pikers in the walling off dept. vs. those of prewar Poland.

If it takes 1000 years, that means there will be Jews in 1000 years - I'm down with that.

So if you start out with 100 Reform Jews and 100 Orthodox Jews, in 4 generations you will have .8 Reform Jews and 400 Orthodox. This sounds about right. One of the reasons why the blond haired blue eyed Warren got away with being an "Indian" is that after 300 years of contact with Europeans there are very few actual full blooded Indians (outside of a few isolated tribes in the West). The current chairman of the official Cherokee tribe is himself 1/32nd Cherokee (which is 1/32nd more than Warren). Many famous movie "Indians" are actually Italian or whatever because real "Indians" don't look Indian enough.

If 75% of the Jewish children are already Orthodox, then even 1 generation from now it will be 95%.

It's hard to argue with reality. You can moan and kvetch about the loss of all the brilliant witty urbane Jews but it won't make any difference. The future belongs to those who show up.

You overestimate attrition from Reform due to intermarriage, J. Quite a lot of the children of those marriages are raised to affiliate jewish, whether patrilineally or matrilineally descended.

Anonymous said...

Also, the number of children per non-Orthodox Jewish couple in NYC is lower than elsewhere in the U.S., at least in part due to cost of living.

Anonymous said...

It depends what you mean to "affiliate Jewish". I know many of these families where they celebrate Hanukah AND Christmas, Passover and Easter, even if the kids go to Hebrew school and get bar mitzvahs. In general, they are not serious about any religion at all - holidays are just occasions to receive gifts and eat food. Are these kids REALLY Jewish? How committed will they be to Judaism and finding a Jewish spouse? How many Indian customs were observed in the Warren household? My wife's family compiled a family cookbook with a picture of the family matriarch on the cover. Half the recipes were for shellfish. Even many non-observant Jews stay away from pork but they LOVE shellfish. The matriarch is spinning in her grave. Elizabeth Warren's "Indian" recipes were from a French chef and copied from the NYT. Last night I saw the menu for a Roman "Jewish" style restaurant in my area. There was prosciutto on the menu. This is how the culture fades away into ignorance.

No, they aren't necessarily ignorant of the customs, they just choose not to follow some of them. The phenomenon of "cafeteria Catholics" seems parallel. They're still Catholic even if they aren't dogmatic about it. Few of them formally convert to another denomination even though they're not dogmatic Catholics.

Anonymous said...

This is different... cafeteria Catholics don't also celebrate Ramadan. The half and halfs observe Christmas and Easter with their grandparents and aunts and cousins despite their "Jewishness".

K

Anonymous said...

Christmas is essentially a secular holiday for most American families. Do you consider it to be "observing Christmas" if the half-Jewish kids have Christmas dinner with the gentile side of their family? Dinner and presents do not a religious observance make.

Anonymous said...

What if they have a Christmas tree? If their grandmother takes them to see Santa Claus? Is there anything less than baptism that will do?

K

Anonymous said...

The Christmas tree is a relatively recently adopted holiday custom that has nothing to do with the Christian religion. Santa Claus is very commercial - the kids are most likely being taken to the shopping mall to visit him. Short of baptism, I would say that attendance at a religious service might quality, but they might just be attending as guests, out of courtesy, rather than worshiping.

J said...

It is not the tree and not Christmas. Judaism in practice is a package of observances, dressing, eating, going to the synagogue, etc. When you eliminate part after part of the "package" you are left with an abstract idea of Judaism which in practice means nothing. Most or all of Jewish customs have one and only purpose: to create a barrier between the Jew and the rest. Religious Jews would not eat with a non religious Jew, not because the food us less healthy but because "it is written so". When you are married to a non Jew, celebrate Christmas, eat trefl, etc. your Judaism is meaningless.

That is, without actual content.
