Hadrian the Humane Emperor

Circumcision was frequently prohibited by enemies of the Jews such as the Ptolemys and Antiochus IV Epiphanes (2nd century B.C.) It was again banned by Hadrian. Their edicts specify that Jews and their customs are odious to humanity and must be forbidden. Now comes this German judge prohibiting our tribal custom NOT because he too hates Jews, but because he LOVES us and wants us to avoid harming our little babies. Out of pure humanity.

This is a tempest in a teapot. The court ruling applied only to Cologne and was raised in the case of a 4 yr old Muslim boy who was circumcised (poorly) by a doctor. The court ruled that children should be old enough to give consent for such an operation.

As a legal matter, putting aside the (important) religious freedom aspect, the court was wrong. Parents are authorized to give consent to operations on behalf of minors who are too young to consent. This happens all the time. There are valid medical reasons for circumcision (as well as religious) and it should be up to a child's parents and his doctors to decide. Otherwise, no medical procedures at all could be performed until you were 18 and could give consent (if you lived long enough).

To become a German civil servant (specially in the judiciary branch) you need to have gesundes Volksempfinden ie a healthy sense of folk emotions. The "princip" was established by the legal luminary Hans Frank. Think: How can a person with one or more Jewish grandparents possess the requisite suitability to opinate on the legality of circumcision? I am sure everything is done to protect the human rights of Jewish children.
