Coeur is an Idaho mining company that is mining and making profits where no one dared to venture before... and survive. Bolivia! El Cerro de Potosi! The San Bartolomé open pit silver mine and associated milling operation, is operated by Empresa Minera Manquiri SA (“Manquiri”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company. Access to the property and processing facilities is by paved and all-weather gravel roads leading south-southwest from Potosí. The Bolivian national mining company, Corporación Minera de Bolivia (“COMIBOL”), is the underlying owner of all of the mining rights relating to the San Bartolomé mine. COMIBOL has leased the mining rights for the surface deposits to several Potosí cooperatives. The cooperatives in turn have sub-leased their mining rights to Coeur, through Manquiri.

I like and respect Hagel, and he is right-the US-Israel relationship is deeply unhealthy. The money flows in exchange for political pull in both directions, and both countries are affected for the worse. I hope that in my lifetime this corrupt mess will cease, with AIPAC and the US-funded Israeli NGOs becoming extinct.
The Court Jews of America, whom Hagel has tangled with, aside from being a deeply distasteful phenomenon are bad for both sides. To the extent that they are Jewish in their professional capacity, they have to put the interests of America somewhere other than first place, in the same way as Sotomayor, as a professional Latina, has to rule in a corresponding manner. To the extent that they belong to the ruling class, they will leave the other Jews in the lurch if shit hits the fan, just like e.g. Felix Frankfurter and Morgenthau did. In the meantime, they are great tools for pushing Progressive policies on Israel-who else will explain to Israel and the world that Land For Peace is a moderate solution, and in fact the only one that makes sense?

Dream-I'm sure that sitting in the mud of Vietnam, or walking point with his brother (they were in the same platoon, and often walked point,) he had to have said, "man, imagine all these asshole officers flying overhead and making these inane policies having to kiss my ass one day."
In order to boss the generals around, first he has to be confirmed. Now it may be that Obama is strong enough that he will get confirmed anyway but it's pretty much universally agreed that Hagel did not help his own case yesterday.
