The press shows picturesque demonstrations in Cairo, with flags and angry faces, fire and barricades. But that is not what the Muslim Brotherhood is. It is a tightly organized political/religious movement, with stable nucleus of hardcore cadres, that emerged after decades of persecution and criminalization. They are also well financed. And they too have a little Red Book (pic). The Army could disintegrate in the clash.
Update: Shooting in Cairo's streets. A prolonged civil war may distract Egypt from fighting Al Qaeda in Sinai. Arens suggested that the strategic Peace Treaty may become worthless. We may be left without peace and without Sinai. The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange has lost its optimism and is falling.
